In February 2013 I weighed 13 and a half stone (I'm on 5ft 1 too!). In February 2014 I weight 11 and a half stone (just from making healthier choices). Then I had a major life change because I felt that it was time to break free from everything and I started weightlifting. Turns out that I really enjoy it and it has become more of a hobby than a chore, which I used to find happened with previous gym experiences.
Since I started lifting in March, I've lost a further stone and I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. I don't necessarily have an end goal weight because I'm gaining muscle too but I do want to be a size 10-12, strong, fit and healthy.
Though I now get a little angsty if I miss a gym session in the week because I don't feel like I've earnt a day off. I'm a single lady so I actually thrive on a weekday routine (and I'm not someone who enjoys routines usually) with work 9-6, home at 7, get changed for the gym, get back from the gym about half past 9 THEN eat and sleep. Repeat all week. But then I feel I can have the weekends to myself without having to worry too much.
Can anyone recommend any good cardio workouts? I can't stand running or any of the gym equipment that offer it so didn't know if anyone had advice on more bodyweight style cardio?
Metafit, les mills grit (plyo, cardio and strength), thump boxing or boxercise (I do thump and theres a lot of HIIT in between the boxing). Even your circuit style class with tyres, kettlebells etc would be beneficial. I do the occasional kettles class as well.
Ive lost just short of 3 stones in a year and metafit and thump boxing have helped my fitness immensely. I lift weights as well.0 -
Hello everyone
I've been away for a little while and have slipped off the health & fitness bandwagon a bit recently but I didn't think things had got that bad, I was getting a cup of tea at work the other day when a colleague (who I don't know particularly well) said to me, 'can I ask you a personal question' I replied 'okay' thinking I don't know what you want to ask but it can't be that bad, she then said to me 'are you pregnant?' I'm 5 foot 3 and weigh about 10 stone, I may have a little bit of a tummy at the moment but I didn't think it was that bad. I guess I should feel flattered that she thinks I'm still capable as I'm 47 this year. I brushed it off with a laugh but it's made me feel really awful about myself. I'm trying to pull myself together and get back on the diet and exercise but I'm really struggling at the moment and she has just made me feel a whole lot worse.
I felt like saying to her if you have to ask someone if they are pregnant then the answer is none of your business, maybe next time she'll engage her brain before her mouth
Sorry just needed to have a bit of a rant
Bet xWorrying won't stop bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.0 -
Welcome NatMast. Well done on your weight loss
I'm petite too
I really like bodycombat but I'm not sure if you'd find it challenging enough. I am pretty unfit and find it gives me a really good cardio workout.
Today has been pretty ok. Decided to have dinner at lunch as going to a class in a bit and eating a main meal before or after doesn't really fit in. I did my squat challenge this morning and will do the ab challenge before bed, although it is killing me (so it must be doing something). I feel like I have a stomach ache. Should also manage 11000 steps, although not through dog walking as they are panting just sitting in the garden.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

aggypanthus well done on the weight loss
I only do exercise in the hope that when I'm slimmer I'm also toned and have less wobbly bits!
Oh and well done at stopping at 5 Jaffa cakes. Anything less than a whole pack is an achievement.
I'm very pleased that I've had my first 5 sticker dayAte less than 1300 calories, walked more than 11000 steps, did official exercise and did both the ab and squat challenges

Evening all.
Had a fantastic kettlebell workout this evening, wont half know I did by tomorrow as the instructor moved me from 10kg to 12kg those extra 2kg are truly evil, he's also putting a free weight program together for me so as well as circuit &kettles for my all rounder exercise, I can work the muscles around the joints that need a bit extra support.
Food not been so great today, I haven't had time (read that as really couldn't be bothered) to do a fresh shop so ended up snacking on rubbish will remedy that tomorrow.
Aggy it's a wonderful start your healing so softly you must go or your body will stop you, we are all at different stages of our journey in the beginning it was enough for my joints just to go swimming a couple times a week. we all have different reason for joining this thread but we all have a common goal we want to be healthy regardless of size, age & gender. we all gotta keep on trucking0 -
aggypanthus - you are heading in the right direction that is all that matters.
Welcome newbies.
Bet - Oh dear, I would never ask that question.
Today is dog walking and a cardio session at the gym. Tomorrow is weigh day and a day off exercise.
Last night I picked DS up from a one of his clubs and I had just been cycling so was still wearing the gear, I got a few funny looks but a couple of people who hadn't seen me in a while were flabbergasted and really staring. There is no hiding anything in cycling tights and a skin tight top and a few months ago I wouldn't have dared walk around in them, being on the bike in them was bad enough, I feel confident enough to now and that is better than any bar of chocolate or biscuit.
