  • Nothing like Dolly's efforts, but this morning clocked 5 miles on my bike, riding back from garage where I've dropped off car for service. The route's only a little hilly, so I made it more of a workout by doing 30 second bursts at full pelt - was knackered by the time I got home! I plan a run Saturday morning as neither of my cycling buddies (one of whom is also my diet buddy) are free this weekend.

If I don't lose this week it won't be through lack of effort. Keeping up the 20 min dumbbell routine 6 mornings out of 7, think I need to start using DH's weights now though as my 2.5kg dumbbells beginning to feel easy for some of the exercises. Have even resurrected the WW no points soup eating, actually enjoying it at the moment too!

Welcome MissD, and have you stopped aching yet Applemuncher?

    Hi all.

I did another bike rider in the rain yesterday, when I go down hill fast it feels like someone is throwing tiny beads at my face - I still loved it though and it wasn't cold which is good. I also ran last night in the pouring rain, I planned to just do 20 minutes but realised I would be just as wet if I did longer so I ended up doing 45 minutes. Running up and down the steps in the woods is paying off, I ran up a big hill last night and found it much easier - but not easy by any means.

Today I have been to the gym and done a spin class and apart from dog walking I am done for the day. DH has the day off tomorrow and we have a 35 mile cycling route planned, quite a lot of it is on quiet country lanes going uphill to a place called Mountain:eek:.

tori - I haven't kept a mileage tally, I am rubbish at doing things like that.

Me and DH did our long bike ride yesterday it was all good apart from one long, very steep climb up some cobbles (god bless Yorkshire) DH managed to get all the way to the top but due to not being able to see the top I gave in 3/4 of the way up.

We also walked the dog for an hour.

Today is my weigh in day and I have stayed the same, there is one week out of every month where this happens - it is very annoying.

  • Dolly, I did the Way of the Roses route in the summer with friends, beautiful scenery but those hills were a killer!! Wanted to throw my bike in the hedge by the end of the first day, and I was almost crying, but it got better and was so glad I'd done it. Feel for you cycling around Yorkshire lol!

Had a run planned before DH went out with boys this morning but just couldn't get out of bed. Must do better! But on the plus side, have lost another 2lb when I weighed this morning, and have been keeping up with dumbbell programme, rest day today and ache a bit for the first time in a while so must have done some good.

October has been rather a wash out for me!

2 weeks of cold/lurgi, then THAT workout that made even walking painful for 5 days! My uncle died - peacefully - so I have also been to Truro (and back) for the funeral - about 15 hours of travel in total.

When poorly, I ate well. Since getting better, I haven't! Weird!

But I am re-reading my Primal Blueprint, and rekindling the wish to try it for 21 days. That may happen in November, as life is still hectic and then it is half term.

So I guess this is me checking in, to let you know I am still around! Will also plan my workouts for Nov - when I do 't even want to plan those, then I know it's time to rest!

  • Applemuncher, nothing like the looming of a new month to make us think about new goals. You've had a lot going on, hope it will now settle down for you and you can get your mojo back fully.

I tried DH's weights this morning for dumbbell workout, means I've doubled from 2.5kg to 5kg dumbells, the smallest I could do with his weights. Managed the workout okay (did upper and lower body combined as missed workout yesterday, combining two on alternate days seems a little more manageable to schedule so if not too sore will continue with this) and not aching too much yet, although felt the difference while I was doing it. How I feel tomorrow may be a different story....

Sticking to the diet again after a little blow out at the weekend, feel purposeful with the whole thing for the first time in ages, long may it continue. Someone remind me to reread this post when I start moaning about losing my way, please.

Hi all. A bit of an update from me.

Saturday I fitted the new clipless pedal system to my bike and me and DH went out for an easy 12 mile ride, I managed it all OK. Sunday morning I set off out again and I climbed one of my favourite hills like a woman possessed, it felt like I had someone else's legs. About 10 minutes after that I fell off, I just have a bruised hip, I wasn't actually moving at the time and had one foot out of the pedal, I was trying to negotiate a stupid little slope with barriers and should have pushed the bike up but I always ride up (with normal pedals) unfortunately my free foot clipped back in and my brain couldn't communicate with my feet so I fell to the left in slow motion.

Monday I cycled again but my confidence was a bit shaken and then I got a puncture. Went to the gym Monday afternoon and did HIIT training and an ab workout. Rest day yesterday.

Today I have done a 45 minute run with some walking intervals and then 1000 skips at home, I will cycle this afternoon, I normally do it in the morning but the sun was so low in the sky it makes it a bit dangerous as drivers are blinded by it and seeing as I have the option it made sense to swap things around.

    Have a good day all.

  • Have always wondered about those clips Dolly - DH loves his and would never go back, but I'd be constantly worried about falling off. Hope you're not feeling too bruised and battered.
