I am so looking forward to a couple of days off next week so that I can get in some running in the daylight. I really want to get some more muddy cross country miles in :) and it is just so much easier in the daylight.

Although I do have a 10k road race to do on Boxing day.

To just catch up with this, I did the race on Boxing day. The first 5k went well, the 2nd 5k not so well as the hangover kicked in with a vengeance. So sadly no sub 40 time but managed to do just over 41mins. Must not drink before my next 10k race.
I have now discovered that it is possible to run to my local parkrun and then back home. (6 miles there, then 6 miles back home). Just need to practice a bit more as my 5k parkrun suffered a little and I was about 15 secs a mile slower than I wanted (20:40) but I guess that is just being tired.

Oh well that's gone and done it. I have entered a 35 mile race in August!!
Perhaps I should look at training as the longest I have ever run is 17 miles!

Exciting! Good luck! How far do you expect your furthest training run to be?

I've entered a half marathon in May - furthest I have ever run is 12.3k. I have a proper plan stuck to the fridge so it's definitely going to happen! (There's a full marathon plan lurking behind it - maybe for next year)

I have a marathon to do at the end of June so that will be the furthest I will be running. If I hadn't already entered the marathon then probably the longest I would have done would be around 20 miles.

I did do a half in training for the only half marathon I have ever raced :rotfl:

I had two super runs from Appleby over XmAs, one of which was ankle deep mud and now had the first here in cornwall but really slowly as its icy. But my left big toe hurts and my shoulder and nexk are stiff. I'll give it a go tomprrow bit dont know what is wrong with the toe.
I am not going to do races...very risk averse now I'm older and just want to have fun.

Mud is by far the best thing to run on. I have had some cross country races this season and they have been so much fun. Off over to race in the northern cross country championships at the end of Jan which should be deep mud as we are the last race of the day! Even more entertaining as I will probably be lapped :rotfl:

I went out this morning and it was sheet ice so just did a gentle 5k. Take it easy out there.

You don't have to run races hard I do quite a lot just for the fun of meeting new people. I quite often spend half of a 10 mile race gossiping to people as we are running lol. I have a few lined up in my training schedule that are going to be run at marathon pace rather than say 10 mile pace.

Hope the toe and shoulder are nothing serious.
