I like to think my diet is fairly normal, quitting alcohol (mostly) has made it much better!

5k done before work this morning! Next run of 4.5 miles planned for Saturday.

Another 5 miles Tuesday, not a fast pace like normal but instead the 10min/mile club.

At the end of the 5 mile, I asked the group if anyone wanted to go around again... the reply was "Hell No..."

    maybe not then..
  • I need to try and get my distance in tonight. Hoping to hit the 10 miles if my legs are up for it. I need to keep up with donglemouse. I guess the garmin leaderboard thing does the trick:j

    take advantage mr dangerous

the plan i am on drops the mileage a bit every fourth week to allow the body to recover

this week is a cut back week for me before the mileage goes up again next week
  • that'll be good for morale. Assuming I can get my run in tonight that is!

When I head out, if I only feel like doing 1 mile, but planned 3, 4, 8 etc I just do that 1. No point in pushing myself further for something that I am not feeling.

Likewise... I have planned 3, and ended up with extra 3 mile laps..

Run how you feel, and don't worry about race day. Race day will come and you will be okay. The week before, I tend to not do anything...

Did 4.5 miles Saturday (which included my fastest ever 5k!)

I have been asked to go running by 2 different people this week, I've never run with someone before, but i guess i better suck it up and go. I like listening to my audio book and just mulling my life over when I run, I'm not sure I could hold a conversation... 4.5 miles planned tonight.
  • Yeah I'm the same. I'm not a very social runner and prefer to be on my own. I like running with others if travelling with work as it helps get us all out of bed when staying at a hotel, but other than that I'm a loner.

I'm playing around with splitting my long runs in half at the moment. A 7 or 8 mile run in the morning and another in the evening feels much more manageable than setting out to do 14 or 16 or whatever.

Sooner or later, I'll have to do at least some of them all in one go so that I know I can do it, but in the meantime, getting the miles in and still being able to train the next day with no niggles seems worth it.
    Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
    House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY

Good dilemma to have! I'd be happy just to be recording that kind of mileage:eek: Seems the recommendation is to definitely try and increase frequency of runs to increase mileage in a week though rather than increasing length of individual runs, and keeping the long ones for once a week or so.

    Well done you!
