Hi, I'm aiming for a half marathon on 15th March. Done 5k but not completed a 10k before so going to be tough. I do like a challenge though. Been out today and will go again on Sunday as I'm following a 12 week plan so need to be disciplined!Fashion on a ration 0 of 660

Half marathon at the end of March arghhhhh
I have been running 3 x a week up to 4.5 miles, and all was going well until an injury made me a take week off (over Christmas annoyingly when I had all the time in the world to run!)
I went back out yesterday and did 2 miles, I could have done more but did not dress appropriately for the unseasonably warm weather and was not hydrated enough. Still back on that horse.
I think I might aim for a 10k tomorrow, and then rejoin my training where i left off last week. 11 weeks to go and I just feel i need to be upping my distance more.0 -
I've got a late February half marathon to do before the full. I'm already up to 13 miles or so for my long runs, but keeping up the speedier stuff while still getting the marathon mileage in will be a tricky juggling act.
Not having a clue what my pace should be because of the couple of months I had off isn't helping things either!Saving for deposit: Finished! :j

Aarrgghh! Due to heel pain I haven't been running properly for a couple of months
now my marathon is in 6 months and I have managed 2 x 3k runs so far this year
really need to get my mojo back! Seems like all my fitness has disappeared, legs have been fine but chest is !!!!!

4.3 miles done today. I can do this comfortably now, infact, I've taken 5 mins off my time in less than month, a quick 5k planned for Tuesday, then I'm going to aim for just over 5 miles on Friday.0

I'm nowhere near the fitness level of most of you - the most I've ever run in one go is 5 miles - but it's lovely to be inspired by everyone
Back to the gym today after a couple of weeks off. It was hard work just running half a mile!!
A close friend has recently been diagnosed with cancer, and I'd like to do at least one Race for Life event for her this year, therefore I'm aiming to get back up to 5K before May.
I'll try to keep posting on my progress…..Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j0 -

Don't worry Chickvic. I'm in the same position, and I found my endurance was largely back after about 2 weeks, but it was another 2 before my lungs even started improving again. I bet your fitness will suddenly improve really rapidly. It'll be massively motivating when it does!
I'm still surprised about how this works. I've always found endurance to be the hardest thing to build up when I haven't taken a break, so I was expecting it would be the slowest thing to come back. Seems not though!
Nice long run/dawdle for me today. I got the train out and ran an improvised route home, mostly in areas I've never been to before. Did take a wrong turn at one point and had to have a few map-checking pauses, but definitely a route to use again.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j

Anyone else here training for a spring marathon?
My training plan started over Christmas, which was an excellent excuse to get an hour or 2 each day of peace and quiet and frosty sunshine, away from all the noise and chaos of the extended family. More room for Christmas dinner, too.
I'm training for a couple of them. One to race, one for fun. I run better in the cold, so don't mind winter training.0 -

Which marathon are you doing Lizling? I did Windermere in May 2013 and 2014, but looking at an Autumn marathon this year. Entered a local half marathon in March to keep myself ticking over and start training for that this week. I love winter training and there's nothing better than the first time you experience warm sunshine late Feb/early March. I may still do Windermere this year but it'll be for fun. I got around in just under 3:45 last year, beating my 2013 time given the hills I'm not sure I could go around any quicker! Good luck.0 -

Have you had treatment for the heel pain? Try rolling your heel on a hard tin can (I used a glass jar of sundried tomatoes last night and I have no heal pain today!). You need to get into the tendon and this is one way of doing it. Press hard. Some people freeze water in a tin can and use this.0
