Well, I did my half-marathon in the slightly less than fantastic time of just under three hours but, in good news, I wasn't anyone near last and I certainly felt like Mo when I crossed the finish line0

How is everyone doing? My half is in a few week (Bupa Birmingham run) and I'm already thinking of doing a marathon next year. This looks hopeful as it's flat!

Well I've entered the marathon  Wish me luck :rotfl:0

Third and final half marathon of the year. It would have been under 3 hours if I didn't need the toilet so often.
I am being talked into doing it again next year. Lovely course; but after today's train troubles, I am likely to say no.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Smashed sub 24mins Park Run on Saturday. Headed out really hard on the first lap, not been out for a run for a whilst so legs felt fresh. Felt about 12th or so...
2nd lap onwards, of a 3 lap course my legs were heavy, felt like I was jumping up and down and not pushing myself forward anymore. The pace dropped right off at the end, as everyone behind me was catching up. Managed to push for a sprint finish.. 5th Park Run... 5th PB...
Doesn't help when you try a bit of fartleck at the end of lap 1..0 -

 That's fantastic. I've entered another half just so I can say I have a PB :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon
I just spotted you all as I was scrolling through and thought I would join in if that is ok?
I have been running on and off for a few years as I always do the 5K race for life (I think 8 times now.) but after this year I decided that I was going to try and stick with my running. So during the summer I was getting up and going before work doing 6 miles average a week then I slopped off again...but I have started running once a week with a friend who enjoys keeping fit and we are doing min 2 miles per week and sometimes adding hills. I go to a bootcamp on a saturday morning which is quite running based too at times and I have a class on a thursday which I might be dropping and just doing at home dvd's and I would like to start doing more running at home in the week not just once with my friend.
Ideally next year I would like to aim and do a 10k, then up to a half marathon. Any training tips will be greatly appreciated.
I have just purchased a couple of reflective snap straps for my ankles (29p each on sports direct) along with a couple of other bits I needed to for running through the cold dark months. I have a head torch already and just need a running armband - but asking OH to get me one for Christmas as I have managed without so far so don't see it as necessary before then just usefulChristmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Welcome newthrift! Keep it up! I've just done my first half marathon today in 2h 26m 52s, which I am really pleased with :j as I had a groin problem and a chest infection last week! Have already entered the same run next year
I did the C25K last year then challenged myself with the Race For Life 10k in June. I did download a programme and then ran it myself anywayI am running a marathon in June next year but will be following a proper plan for that!

Well done Chickvic on your first half marathon!!
I always do the 5K and I did wonder about entering the 10K instead to give myself the extra challange. I am terrible at following the programmes, especially if they tell me to walk in it ha ha!Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

You weren't that guy at Eden yesterday who one of the marshals had to chase after to check he was ok, were you? I was on that corner with another female. He went past, looked a tad grey and was swaying into the hedge. The marshal with me ran after him to check he was ok. I'm not sure what happened to him. But I do hope he's ok.
And well done!Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
