Surley the pub have done wrong by not asking his age or asking for id. If they had and he had shown his id then it would be his own fault. who can I report the pub to?

But I thought you were fine with him drinking underage?

Reporting the pub won't get you your money back (or your sons).

....have a word with his parents, hopefully they'll ground him for a couple of weeks to teach him a lesson....

I don't understand why you're not angry with your son for being a fool. If he's drinking and gambling at 16, the future doesn't look bright. He chose to do it - well, let him suffer the consequences of having wasted his money. It's the only way he'll learn.

The pub is wrong OP and you could probably get them in trouble but have a think.

    1) Edited because I read as the job was at the pub.
    2) Your son won't learn from this if he gets the money back
    3) Your son will expect you to stand up for his rights when he should be doing it
    4) Its a lesson learnt that is better now than in later life.

Surely you see point 4? Yes be angry at the pub but let your son learn from his mistakes, don't buy him anything between now and next payday, don't lend him money for the bus etc etc

im his mum, so don't know what ya talking about.

got no problem with him drinking int he pub as stops him drinking on the street, but the pub or fruit machine owners shouldn't allow him to play on the machine. if they had asked for id he would still have had his money.

If they had asked for ID he would be drinking on the street.

How about he, uh, doesn't drink underage?

Seriously how can you not see the hypocrisy. I am happy for my son to break THIS law but how dare a pub allow him to break THAT law.

Basically you dont mind him spending his money and getting something in return, aka a drink, but you dont like the idea of him ploughing all his money onto a machine and getting nothing. WAKE UP. Thats what gambling is.

Lucky for you he'll no doubt not do it again.

Where is the parental responsibility? Maybe your son knew you'd be okay with him drinking underage (as you said you were) and presumed you'd be okay with him gambling underage too?

Well hopefully he's learned his lesson.

Maybe if you'd raised him better instead of condoning under-age drinking, he would still have had his money! You've taught him the lessons he's learned so far and now you're complaining that he's learned them well.
