As teh car is not insured you need to SORN it and return the tax otherwise its going to cost you more.

The DVLA have to allow a week at least to ensure that the databases the interrogate are up to date. If the OP took out insurance 10 mins before getting tax he would still be in the same position of DVLA not being able to find insurance for the vehicle.

MID is not a realtime database, Insurers tend to update them about every 2 days

Interesting,just rang previous keeper about that,who has advised not to worry as he has a traders insurance policy therefore means the car was indeed insured upon purchasing car tax.

Didn't realise he had traders insurance,till I rang him 10min ago.

After road tax was purchased I immediately took out 24hr car insurance via mobile online THEN drove car legally home.

Insurance was took out same day after purchase of road tax (within minutes) tomorrow gf shall add car onto her insurance just in time for 24hr insurance expiring.

You insured and taxed the car for one day the insurance has now expired. So you should SORN the car and return the tax because its no longer insured.
You have to have tax and insurance or declare SORN and return the tax.

If it fails to show as insured then you may get a fine for not having valid insurance or SORN'ing the vehicle..
