We were both too sick to go on Saturday so we are hoping to go this Saturday.
Aww shame. I hope you feel well enough for the next lesson.
I was really chuffed but it was basic stuff so I won't get 'ahead of myself'! I'll probably get onto the next level and be rubbish. Not that I mind - I'm doing this for the enjoyment so will take as long as I need. Am really loving it although I wasn't feeling great either last night so didn't stay on after. Might go tomorrow but have had change in meds (I have fibro and other ailments lol!) which has left me shattered so won't push it.0 -

Thanks! Both of us still aren't back to normal yet.
Hope you are feeling better today.
I was at the doctors on Monday and he has put me on more tablets for one of my ailments. I was diagnosed with fibro years ago I wish there was something I could take to get rid of it or at least deal with it.
When I was at my last lesson the instructor asked what I was afraid of as I barely moved when the children where near me (it was supposed to be an adult class but there wasn't enough so they merged the children class with the adult class and some of the children are about five years of age) so I explained I was blind in one eye and partially sighted in the other eye so I was afraid of bumping into them and that I had an insulin pump in my pocket. His eyes opened wide and he said "Oh thank you very much for telling me that I didn't know". He must of thought my blind eye was giving him the eye. :rotfl:0 -

That's fab!! Giving him the eye!! Aww bless you! You must feel vulnerable in new situations until you get used to them but I think it's amazing you are giving it a go (I hope that doesn't sound patronising). My fibro waxes and wanes. Sometimes it's the pain, sometimes the fatigue. I also have OCD too and that affects my fatigue if. I am feeling particularly anxious or uneasy.
Ice skating is good though because you can take it at your own pace and it is not too high impact (well not until we do jumps at least)!!
I hope you feel well enough for your next lesson.x0 -

I do feel vunerable but I feel sorry for those little children, if I fell on them it wouldn't be funny that is why I am careful when they come any where near me.
It isn't patronising - we were out at a concert one night and my sisters friend, who knows I don't have night vision, wondered how I was able to walk quite a distance at night without walking into the trees on the pavements or the roots which were protruding through the pavements or anything but he didn't realise that my husband communicates with me through my hand hence why we are normally holding hands at night. I didn't bother explaining so he thought my eye sight had improved greatly. :rotfl:
I'll be happy if hubby and I learn to skate and not fall.
Thanks, I hope we are well too. Enjoy your skating!0 -

I am fine now, thank you for asking but neither hubby or I were well enough to go on Saturday. Hubby emailed them and asked if we could be transferred to the next course but they haven't responded yet.
How did you get on since? Suppose you didn't have a class tonight because of it being another bank holiday?0 -

We got transferred to the next course which starts on Friday 13th June and it is in the evening so it is more suitable for us.
How did your lesson go?0 -

Hubby & I started our new course last night and we had a different instructor. She had us taking three steps, glide and stop; three steps, glide and then touch our toes; sit on the ice and get back up again and we were practising lemons. She showed us the four things we need to do to qualify for level 1 and she actually had us doing them. Now we need to repeat them until we get better and more confident.
We both came out of the lesson more enthusiastic and looking forward to the next lesson. :j
I didn't think there could be such a difference in two instructors. :eek:0
