Thanks!! We have to do six weekly sessions and then we get a certificate when we successfully complete level one. There are supposed to be ten levels where we are learning.

I do think it must be similar where I go but I never thought to ask. Will be chuffed if I get a certificate - haven't had one since school!!

I will probably get a certificate for the person who fell the most in level one ever. :rotfl:

You start in Skate Uk levels are 1-8, you get a booklet which once you have successfully passed your element a coach will sign off. Once you complete a whole level, there are 5 elements in each level you can purchase a certificate &/or badge. After level 8 you progress to bronze, silver & gold - uou can do these in dance, free & speed skating. Once they are complete you can go onto NISA.

Personally I wouldn't buy anything until you've been going for a while just in case you don't get on with it. Your coach will recommend anything you need.

    Enjoy your lessons!

Thanks! Where hubby and I are getting our lessons they have ten grades - but I'll be glad just to learn how to skate. :o

Skate uk have just changed their bandings, my daughter did 1-10 (she's Nisa now) the rest of us started on the 1-10 & now we're on 1-8. The elements are the same but in different order!

The only thing we did buy were skates but only after passing level 1.

Hope you enjoy it, it seems to have taken over our life!!!

After a few lessons, if you think you are going to take it seriously and commit to it then its definitely worth buying your own skates. Even the cheap beginners' skates are so much better than the ones you rent. More comfortable, and by maintaining them you will always have an edge. Rental blades can sometimes be quite blunt!
