:T well done!! It is really great, isit not? I loved it! Ours wasn't on last night due to bank hol so lookingforward to next time.

I had three spectators telling me the following: "You should get a penguin" and when I stated they were for children 4ft and under she said "My daughter is using one and she is not a child" (her daughter looked older than me). Another "I tried it once and never again" as she stood smiling at all those on the rink. The third "Do you realise that the inside of the rink is the slippiest although I am seventy and I have never skated" as I was about to leave the ice-rink. Two of the three admitted to never having tried to ice-skate while the third admitted to trying it once. :rotfl:

Fingers crossed I advance on Saturday but I do wonder what you are supposed to be able to do after each stage - what are you supposed to have successfully accomplished?!?

So glad you enjoyed it! Great fun and good exercise! Are you doing Skate UK?

From memory Level 1 was/is just moving forward, standing from sitting, stepping in a circle & something else (can't remember!)

He didn't mention it so I will ask on Saturday but the advertisement I seen said there were ten levels. I wonder at which level you are supposed to be able to actually skate.

If hubby & I successfully complete the course we should be able to:-

    1 Moving forwards and stopping.

2 Fall down & get up unaided. :rotfl:

    3 Bent knee exercise.

    4 Forward lemons.

You must be doing a completely different course to us. Who runs the courses. Lemons (swizzles) and stopping is on level 2 of NISA Skate UK basic skills programme. Have to say I find snowplough stops impossible! My OH & children all do T-stops. Although daughter is practising her show stops!

I am based in Northern Ireland so I believe it is different to the rest of the UK according to what I have been reading online.

What are snowplough stops? I did ones where we spread our legs to the sides and come to a stop.

Fab! Did you need to lose weight or tone up before you started? And if you did, has this helped? I am hoping with regular sessions, I might get a bit trimmer!

It does tone up & yes have lost! Thigh muscles are definitely firmer!! Its also good for your posture. It's sometimes hard to practice on a Saturday as sometimes its very busy. I don't mind just pooting along but my oh & dd get frustrated they can't practice their moves!! Unfortunately my dd (10) does need the whole rink for her routine & shes not very tolerant with non / new skaters & me just slowly going round! Or she tries to get me to do things way beyond my capabilities! But its something we all do as a family!
