Yay cannot believe I have managed to do it - first debt gone and it feel sooooooo good!

Two credit cards left to go and a family debt too that needs paying.

    £21,350 here I come....

So excited to be debt free. The plan once debt free will be to have my Barclaycard as holiday purchase (save up first so I can pay it off straight away of course) and Halifax card for home improvements (also saved up for first). That way I know what's where and I can continue to have a good credit score for when it comes to remortgaging.

I am really hoping that by making lots of little sacrifices we can get the debt paid off quickly. A second job has helped hugely - not am easy option when pregnant but I am lucky I can work from home in the evenings. I have given myself until July 2017 to be debt free

  • Hi GaLa15 !
Thanks for stopping by to read my diary! Hello back to you!! You are doing amazingly well and you are inspiring me to keep going with your attitude to it all! Is the £21,350 what is left of your original debt? That's amazing! X

Yes that's what's left! Made some sacrifices along the way but really hoping because the children are little they won't remember missing a few holidays etc...I work two jobs too to get debts finished early. It all gets a bit exhausting at times but I somehow keep ploughing on.

This debt busting can get quite addictive! I struggle like you with not being able to clear everything overnight...

  • Wow!! You have paid off over 40k in a year!! That's absolutely amazing! You should be so proud of yourself. My debt is a bit higher than what yours was and I am currently throwing about 1k a month at it but it's so disheartening knowing how many more months there are! I am currently working 3 jobs though so that's helping me out, and since starting my diary my ebay productivity has increased like 1000% so that's a benefit in itself!!

Seriously you are completely amazing and you are making your children proud.

Well struggling a little the past week. Think I go all crazy with overtime and paying debt off and then once the excitement of paying the debt off dies down I'm left feeling a bit depleted! I need the usual...a bit more balance and structure and realistic goals!

Think I need to concentrate on payig off Barclaycard next. Both my credit cards are on 0% but Barclaycard has the higher minimum payment. £8000 for the new goal... Going to give myself until Xmas. I have £11,000 credit limit and that's the amount I need to pay my brother. He will need it by January 2016 and hopefully I will be able to do a cash balance transfer for close to that amount....then start again paying off the credit card on 0%.

Think that's prob for the best. It's so all consuming this de t busting business. I am feeling better though! :)

Haha just realised...I meant £7000 on my Barclaycard not £8000! It was originally £8000 - the £1000 has gone on regular monthly payments since last year. Would love to pay off £1000 in a day!

Ok so Easter holidays I have had a little break - I needed it! Haven't been anywhere exciting but had a lovely relaxed time with the children and bump is growing nicely. I have had a long think and have been lucky to be able to rearrange work so that I am able to take and pick up the kids from school. Trying to get my priorities straight: FAMILY FIRST!

However that doesn't mean I can neglect the DEBT either. Hoping to make the small things add up over the next few months - starting with setting goals by the time I start maternity leave. Eek! Not far away! Anyways....another update when I have had another think! Lol!
