    Hi everyone

Thanks and waves  to dawnybabes, Being Frugal and shinner for your good wishes! I am trying to get round to reading everyone’s diaries – they are so inspirational.:A

Hi tizerbelle – what’s next on the underwear list – 25 new bras? :rotfl: ! Thanks for the tip on YNAB’s Net Worth report. I didn’t think of filtering it and I now have just my credit cards showing and my emergency fund so that I can see the debt bar going down very nicely!:T

Evening Happynow. When I set up my snowball on whatsthecost at the beginning of my LBM I did test out both ways of snowballing, i.e. by interest rate and by paying off the smallest debt first. If I go down the smallest debt route it calculated that I will be paying over £4,500 more in interest than going down the highest interest route! I have been in two minds over the last few weeks, but I have decided that I will be going down the highest interest route as my rates are so high on some of the cards. However, if there is more than one line of debt with the same interest rate I will pay off the smaller first.

Just pottered around today and have been making some sort of sense of the music in my ipod by reorganising my music on my laptop and then downloading it again into the ipod. I put my whole CD collection on the laptop sometime ago, but I’ve got so much on there that the reorganisation was well overdue .Took me ages! When I downloaded the CDs I was going to sell them, but you never seem to get much for them. So I decided to keep them. I threw away the plastic holders and bought a CD case like a little suitcase and put the CDs along with the paper inserts from the holders in there. It’s surprising how little room this takes up once the plastic holders have gone! So they live under the bed now along with the off season clothes!

My new MSE lifestyle appears to have been a catalyst for other jobs – so far I’ve organised and delcluttered make-up, clothes, shoes, handbags, the kitchen – even audited my TV channels !I had already organised my books when I received a kindle as a gift a couple of years ago . I’ve always been a bit of a book hoarder and I often read favourite novels again, but I do have limited storage in my flat. Once I got the kindle I just downloaded my favourite novels and took the originals to the charity shop . I find the kindle easy to read on a crowded commuter train as well. I’ve kept the hard copies of my history/biographies/non-novels etc and will continue to buy these in hard copies at book shops as I hate to think these will witter away and all books will be bought online some day or disappear into online versions only. One of my favourite shops is Hatchards book shop on Piccadilly . It’s wonderful old fashioned book shop that’s been there over 100 years with lovely Victorian staircases. The enormous Waterstones on Piccadilly is rather ace as well!

Well it’s been a NSD today so that’s a plus. There’s an extra three days in the month for me between May and June paydays so I’m going to be extending this week and the next two by one day each till I get paid on 25th. That means the end of this Week 2 will be tomorrow instead of today. It'll be good MSE practice for me!

    Good morning,

A woman I used to work with used to go shopping every 8 days instead of every Saturday. Every7 weeks she got a "free" weeks shopping.

I agree it's important to have some treats but sign up to groupon/wowcher etc. They always have deals on for gel manicures for between £9 - £12. They last for ages, look good & will save some cash without leaving you feeling deprived :)

I've just found your diary and have enjoyed reading your conversion to MSE #subscribed.

I don't know about Quidco, but with Topcashback you can get a small amount of cashback on theatre tickets - it would be worth you checking that out. I'm currently checking out a driving experience for my son's 30th birthday treat and I'm comparing two offers via TCB

I'd second the idea of looking on Groupon for manicure deals. I don't usually have mani/pedi-s but there's an offer on locally for both with paraffin treatment at £19 which I'm tempted to buy with some birthday money.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Hello and :hello: to dawnybabes and Being Frugal, and thanks for popping in and subscribing Dobbibill.

Hi there Onmyway2 and satchmo1 – the thing with my nails/pedicure is that I’ve had the same girl for nearly ten years now and she is a friend. The other important thing is that she is very good and very reliable and also cheaper than going to a salon because she comes to my home after I get home from work in the week so I don’t have to book any appointments at the weekend.

However, satchmo I did look at quidco with regard to the theatre tickets. It’s either my sister or me that tends to book them and if we are booking a specific event we like to go on that theatre’s own website as you can pick your own seats, which you can’t do if you go through most of the theatre booking agencies – plus these tend to load up on booking and credit card fees as well. However, some of the theatres don’t have their own booking facilities and direct you to the bigger ticket agencies. So I did see on quidco that there is a theatre booking comparison site that gives you 5% cash back so I will definitely be looking at this going forward if I can’t book direct, and I’ll let my sister know as well so thanks a bundle for the tip:T

Well at the end of Week 2 of Scrimp Month 2 yesterday I’ve come in over budget by £1.66 on food :(, but under budget on the ad hoc spends by £29.86. :j So a little bit more to put towards the theatre day out and weekend away later this month.

Today I just bought my Sunday paper and topped up food (fruit, veg and milk) at £5.43. So carry on Week 3!
