I've been looking for a new car which I think I've found the one I want but that a different thread.
Anyway what people experience with pressure selling I now understand why so many people on here end up with bad deals/ car they cant really afford. Luckily while I'm mild mannered I will put my foot down.
Went to kia dealership today and the pressure selling was the worse I've had so far. Most of have tried a little bit but most give up after its clear I'm not going to pushed but they just carried on and on.
Anyhow what's other people experience?

My experience is that I just don't buy from them, even if it's what I want.0

If it needs selling that hard, it probably ain't worth buying.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -

it works, some people will run the other way when they feelt they're being "sold", but for people who remotely want the car and have the cash - it works.
I guess it saves their time too, because the timewasters will run a mile - i bet garages get idiots who just come in for test drives and no intention of buying so they have to pressure sell to identify genuine buyers0 -
I don't do car dealers, my experience is low trade-in and lies.
Life's too short to deal with dealers.0 -
I don't go to dealers and when I was leasing I wouldn't even test drive them.
Recently I have bought salvage online and unseen and it is normally deposited on the trailer by a forklift.
So no salesmen and no hassle.0 -

Its not that it needs selling that hard, its the fact you can buy the same product elsewhere.
Salesmen know that if you leave the showroom, you'll probably go elsewhere to buy - even if its only for a fiver less, there'll be someone out there who'll want the deal.
So they do all they can to get a commitment from you whilst you're there.0 -
I think I've had the range of experiences, including:
- Ford dealer who wanted to discuss exact finance details almost as I stepped into the shop
- Ford dealer who ignored me utterly
- Toyota dealer who was too busy explaining to an older couple how all cars depreciate except for the Yaris, which never does
- Ford and Citroen dealers who had no interest in offering a test drive in the cars I liked
but there have also been the good dealers too; they ended up selling me a new car, because that afterall was the reason for my visit0
