Sorry for your loss OP. However, you do need to look at your housing situation, considering your low income.

Are you entitled to any benefits - you say you cannot work due to ill health?

Can you sell your house and use some of the equity to buy a small flat in an area that will allow you to live without a car? Close to shops, friends, doctors, other amenities?

Would a mobility scooter help?

If you have zero housing and car costs, you might be able to manage well for a few years on your income and savings from the leftover equity in your house.

How old are you and what pension arrangements do you have?
