Geez, truly some people are so scared of their own shadows they deserve to be scammed.
If you could let me have your family member's name and address by PM, I'm just knocking up a couple of invoices and threatening letters. I know a couple of folks in Nigeria who'd be interested too.Je suis Charlie.0 -
Well I must say I am highly disappointed that anyone, after being given the best advice available would see fit to encourage such lying scum as these debt-collectors.
But of course that is how they operate - putting the frighteners on folks who don't know or understand the law.
Please, please, tell us at which retail park this 'offence' took place as I too would like to park there for a while and so get an opportunity to sort out these parasites.0 -
Thanks everyone for your replies. I do understand where you're coming from.
On the other hand it can be very scary for someone who doesn't know the law ( see an earlier post, and that includes the CAB by the sounds of it). My daughter was becoming stressed by the whole matter. I also understand her position. This forum is testament to how worried and stressed folk can get.
The car park concerned was the Gallagher retail park in Dundee.0 -
Apart from the very underhand tactics and downright lies by the debt collectors, CAB are the real problem, as we regulars here know CAB are and always have been useless regarding PPC's.
Many organisations and companies advise people to use CAB, so some deem them competent, it looks like the OP's daughter took their advice, rather then the advice of some guys and gals off the tinterweb.
You could say its understandable, however we know who was right!0 -

Redrose, If this is correct from your first post:
It was first 2 hours free and the vehicle was parked for less time than that.
I really cannot understand the lack of fight over this unenforceable scam, with all due respect it seems like your family member really has money to flush down the toilet.
It's obviously their choice but there are some very unscrupulous bullies laughing all the way to the bank at them!0 -

Well she'll not escape stress for very long by capitulating. All she's done is set herself up to be terrified of the next scammer who comes along. And the one after that and on and on and on.
Plus, she's done everyone else a disservice because every single person who pays these scum helps perpetuate the whole sordid racket.
UKPC. In Scotland. Ridiculous.Je suis Charlie.0 -

Excellent - I'm going down that way soon and a couple of my pals who live in that area really dislike bailiffs and love to get stuck-into them.0 -
If you want to stick it up UKPC in Scotland, try Braehead just west of Glasgow ... UKPC "manage" car parking there too. (Well they certainly do in the Green car park where M&S are located). We were just there today, with my aged, infirm but no blue badge M-I-L, but in my [company] car so I decided to play it safe. (I was tempted to park in a "disabled" spot near the entrance).0

Sticking it up UKPC and Gordon & Noble sounds like a good campaign project for the summer season.
I reckon there will be a few folks staying 10 minutes or so over the maximum at lots of car parks.
In error - of course.0
