Possible Benefit Fraud

so when will you be reporting amazon/starbucks/phil green et al for tax fraud/avoidance/evasion?
from all you have said it will be first thing tomorrow morning?
No because they haven't committed a crime. You may consider their actions immoral, but immorality is not illegal. Also I am sure the powers that are far more knowledge of their actions than I.0 -
I personally find benefit fraud more insulting than millionaires moving their money offshore. The reason for this is because I know I would not illegally try and fraudulently claim benefits, but would certainly look at legal tax optimisation strategies if I ever earned enough to be able to do it. People need to get a grip on reality. It is very easy for people who may never become millionaires to judge those who are successful, but there is a difference between illegally claiming money, and legally avoiding paying tax.
Just to note, I don't agree with many ways the tax is spent in this country. If I was almost 100% sure my tax money were to be spent as efficiently as possible (some waste is inevitable) then I would be proud to pay all my tax.
Also just to say I am a full-time university student. Because I work hard during my studies I earned around 12k last year and paid UK income tax. I am not against tax, but understand human nature.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. When I worked at the DWP, the majority of reports were hoax/spite/mistaken.
Some, although by no means all, reports were investigated (reporters giving their own details, and not anonymous, were always given more credibility), but if the report was found to be wrong, the claimant's file was marked so that they were not being continually investigated because someone either wanted to get their own back about something, or simply didn't know all the facts.
I have to say that I wouldn't defraud, as I really couldn't be bothered with the worry of not being truthful, with benefits, but I cannot say I curtain twitch and report anyone else either - I live, so that I have a clear conscience, and never need to worry who is knocking at the door, but, it's up to others what standards they set for themselves, as I'm not their moral compass.
Bit like MP's fiddling - I raise my eyes heavenwards, but I cannot be bothered to get angry about it!
I pay a higher rate of tax, wish I paid less, but that ain't ever going to happen either!
Life's too short to worry about what I can't change, and too short to worry about whether the neighbours are scamming or not.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
You must have a wonderful day job, or maybe just a bit nosy? Don't understand what pleasure people get out of spying on others, must live a very shallow life.
Eh? What are you talking about? My job is good, thanks, but I'm not sure what relevance that has. My life is very full and I don't spy on people. If I suspect a crime has been committed I report it. I see nothing wrong in that and so far, nothing anyone has written in this thread has been able to convince me otherwise. Mind you, garbled, inane insults like your post above could hardly be deemed intelligent debate, could it?0 -

Yep Bob is a closet transvestite and comes out at nigh dressed as 'Barbara'.These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -

That must have been a drag.0 -
i`m only going to say one more thing on this subject as someone has already had one of my post pulled, and that is that tax evasion/avoidance/fraud cost almost £11 BILLION a year benefit fraud less than £700 million from a welfare bill of £94 billion
those are facts not opinions and i`m out of this thread now0 -

So it's ok to steal from the benefit system because some people evade tax?0 -

Tax avoidance is legal. If you've ever bought anything duty-free then you've done it yourself.0
