advertised it as having 6 months remaining tax,
Presuming disabled tax discs are free, then this statement is false, as no tax was ever paid. Did he actually advertise it as 'tax disc expires in 6 months?' This statement would be true.

He'll get done for fraud, you'll get done for blackmail....result.

How does that work then, I'm only trying to get some money back I think i have been fraudulently done out of, and he had commited a fraud of sorts ?

Was advertised as having tax until end of October 2014.

I'd chalk it down to experience and move on. I assume you looked the car over before buying. I would and if the tax disc said zero then I'd factor the cost in. Not saying that I am a great car buyer it's just something I have experince in as I used to drive loads of disabled tax cars as a trade plater and it was amazing how many others wouldn't use their plates in them or didn't know the rules
Bedroom Tax / Spare room subsidy / Housing Benefit Reduction - It's the same thing, get over it.

I did look at the car but who really looks at the small print... you look at the expiry date, well at least I would until this happened. Is there no way of reporting this type of misuse, wouldn't compensate me of course but would make me feel a little bit btter at least !

I'd pay the tax and using the copy of the advert that you've kept claim back through small claims if a letter (sent to be signed for" formally claiming the refund and advising if not resolved with X days you'll be taking legal action doesn't sort out the situation.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have kept a screen shot of the advert and I also have a transcription of the conversation ( where he admits use of the vehicle since Nov 2013) of me asking for compensation of monies due to the tax disk being unusable.

How would I go about starting a claim via small claims ?

    Many Thanks

Sorn the car and send the log book back to the dvla to get it registered as plg, then you can tax it.

I'm not sure to be honest, it's more the principle of it. The seller has managed to defraud me and the country.
