I work in loads of huge huge companies - including big supermarkets and banks and the money they waste is immense! I don't think they would miss your 38p honestly IA, they are too busy throwing away £millions on their poor processes and hopeless staff.
I guess I will get the sack now!

IA, I wouldn't worry (unless you're shopping in front of me at 10pm at night)!!!!smudgemanc26 wrote: »what about the people that eat around the store (that really gets me angry) im sure they dont give the empty wrapper to the checkout person either.
Smudgemanc, I was feeling very narked one summer's evening last year and shopped some bint for this! I was queueing to buy a bottle of wine at 10.50pm. Two in front (mum and daughter) were buying in two separate lots and messing around with packing it! Daughter ate a bag of crisps from her basket then pocketed the wrapper. After finishing mum's shop (11.58 by now), the cashier asked if she could scan my wine (only sold until 11pm) but daughter said "no". I waited until cashier opened till to take her money before asking if she'd paid for the crisps or just stolen them! (she got a caution for shoplifting). Moral was never be a !!!!! to me if I've seen you do something wrong:D!!!
Climbgirl, six months ago I was queueing at Morrisons. Woman in front had packed two bags, had 5 packs of pork (£4 each), 6 packs of chicken wings (£1.50 each) 6 bags of salad (70p each) and other stuff. Her bill came in at... £12! It was obvious the cashier knew this woman from their conversation, so I waited until my goods had been scanned, then said sorry I had to go to customer services and walked off after shopper towards customer services. She had over £50 of shopping and only paid £12!!!!!! Had to spend 30 minutes giving a statement to the police as the shop prosecuted the cashier!A girl who served me ... only rang on about half of what I'd bought.
Final incident was me!!! I'd put my things through and *knew* it should come to £35.22 (i'm anal about shoppiing so I had worked it out before-hand). Bill came to £34.23, so I asked for it to be rescanned because something hadn't registered. The pineapple wasn't scanning so the supervisor at Asda worte out a 99p coupon and handed that in!
I suppose my honesty stems from working in village shop 15 years ago and handing over £40 in change to someone who'd handed me £10. He was honest and handed it back, but boss said that if the till was down it'd come out of my wage:eek:. I only got paid £20 for working on the Saturday, so I'd have ended up working for nothing!DFW Nerd Club #545 Dealing With Our Debt

I have a shameless policy when it comes to Tesco self-scan;
If it doesn't scan after three attempts then I assume an implied contract that I can take it home for nothing.
Very naughty I know.*Everybody wants prosthetic foreheads on their real heads*

But I am the same person who handed in £20 at a petrol station when I found it on the forecourt.
So I'm not going straight to hell.

Oh yeah. I also remember going to purchase a cafetiere from a store; it had a price of £25 (silly me for wanting it) and it scanned at £3.50.
The young girl serving didn't question it and I ran faster than I ever had before (and since come to think of it).*Everybody wants prosthetic foreheads on their real heads*

A few weeks ago, I was at a bar buying a drink for my sister and myself. The cost for the 2 drinks was £6+ and I handed over a £10 note. The barmaid (who actually had a cleaners apron on and seemed to be helping out as they were busy) passed the 2 drinks and my change, including a £10 note. I checked in my purse that I had only given her a £10 note, then told her.:A
She thanked me and we went to sit down. A few minutes later, she came over with 2 more drinks (the same as our previous order) and said she wanted to thank me, and that 2 drinks wouldn't be missed, but £10 would.
It made me feel really good and I was glad that I had been honest, I would have hated for her to get into trouble if the till was down.
Having said that, for 38p, I really don't think I'd bother!!

I've had one or two glitches with the self scanners at Tesco but the mistakes have only ever been for a few pence here and there.
I've never said anything as I kind of feel it's payback for food I've bought which has started to go bad (eg fungus growing on strawberries) way before it's supposed sell by date.
On the other hand, if it was a large obvious error or could cost someone their job, I always let the other person know about the mistake.0 -
The security cameras over the self service tills are so sensitive they can probably tell you what underwear you are wearing. Still completely useless until they pay someone to watch them.Barclaycard 3800
