I have to admit I hate those self scan checkouts at Asda. They honestly take twice as long as a normal checkout, what with them analysing if you have bagged something or not!
It could be worse, I was in the supermarket one Sunday morning getting bacon and stuff for breakfast. I had sent my ex off to get the meat (me being veggie) while I got some other stuff, when the fire alarm went off. Being a good person, I put my basket down and walked out. My ex however stashed the bacon and eggs under his jacket and met me outside the store. We figured it would be ages before they reopened so started walking home. Only halfway did he pull the food out and tell me what he had done!
I told him off, but I have to admit I didn't make him go back that afternoon to pay for it!0

Don't know how to double quote.......
I_A - don't worry about the 38p, that's about one fifth of a nano second profit for Tescos! If they were THAT concerned, they'd use some of their £2bn profit and buy decent tills!

Mind you, quite what she's be doing buying baby food is beyond me, perhaps a secret love child and another cover up by the Catholic Church?
Grr, Those guys at the Vatican make my blood boil!

This is why this country is going to hell in a handcart. It's the thin end of the wedge - 38p groceries today - armed bank robbery and murder the next. Mark my words!!
p.s. I'd have done the same, it's not like you popped it into your pocket. They made a mistake and so it's their tough luck.
Works both ways. They win when they give back change for a fiver when you gave them a tenner.0

I was in Topshop a while back (a while = a year ago ) and I bought a few t shirts, and picked up a nice bag that was £15. The girl who served me was so busy chatting to her mates she didn't scan the bag and didn't twig that the total was quite low.
I didn't say a word and I'm not sure I felt guilty either...
Actually this happened recently too, I was in mothercare, bought a few bits and pieces and two cuddly toys, the girl only scanned one. I didn't realise this time until I was at home and I did feel a bit bad - because if I had noticed I would've said something as the girl who served me was dead friendly.
But obviously it didn't bother me enough to go back or anything...0

I wouldn't steal something deliberately but if a shop makes a mistake I wouldn't point it out to them. I feel so ripped off by banks, insurance companies, the government, overpriced shops etc, that it is hard to have any scruples about a freebie caused by their own inefficiency! I would take it and feel dead chuffed! Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

A girl who served me in Boots the other day only rang on about half of what I'd bought. I would have pointed it out to her if she'd stopped talking to her mate for long enough to let me get a word in edgewise. It's rather amazing that they can conduct an entire transaction without even a grunt in your direction.
Frankly, if a store can't be bothered training their staff properly to provide actual customer service and notice things like this, I'm not going to help them out.0

I wouldn't pay for baby food - but then again I would never consider buying it vile stuff should be free!
After working in the retail industry there is no way I would even use the self service checkouts like a few others have said had you got caught, bearing in mind they concentrate security wise more on these tills then you would have had a hard time convincing them. So not saying you were wrong but saying is it worth the risk for 38p and is it worth in the future using the self scanners?
Also using self scanners you are increasing there profits caus they employ less staff its a con :P
Genuine mistake this time, don't worry about it but next time keep someone in a job and make them scan, and pack and carry out to your car just to be awkward 0 0
