The purpose is to show they are not wasting money in RHI payments by paying huge RHI payments for houses with huge heat demands where this can be easily, cheaply and considerably reduced with some insulation
For example on my house insulation knocked off 15,049 kWhs from 50,591 to 35542 of heat demand saving the tax payer £19,804.48 over 7 years.
Ironically I got all the insulation free through ECO anyway...

No I don't think you need a GDA if you property was a new build, when applying if you tick yes to 'install before you moved in' then the GDA number field disappears. I could be wrong as my application is in review they may come back to me and say I need one . I'm hoping common sense would prevail as a house built to building regs in 2010 wouldn't have any major recommendations on how to improve insulation..0

I phoned to check and it's correct that you just need an EPC, not a GDA, if it's a self-build. I wasn't told I needed to use an approved assessor to produce the EPC - do I? We are in an isolated rural area. We have a local surveyor who does 'ordinary' EPCs for home reports, but the nearest GD assessor is over a hundred miles away. I have a little time since I'm a 'legacy' install so can't apply before July 1st, but I'd like to get organised in advance.0 -
I have just had another E-Mail from Ofgem requesting that I send them a copy of my GDA even though they've got the reference number and can download it themselves from the database. I've had to download it, print it and post it.
I've already had to send documentary proof of my bank account and a copy of my driving licence to confirm my identity and address (by post). I'm not sure whether they are incompetent or I've just been unlucky to get all the fraud checks (the requests for info have all come from their fraud prevention dept)Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

To be honest having to organise a survey and probably have to take the day off work (£300ish) to be there for a completely pointless exercise is a lot more hassle than scanning a few documents. Also I thought they cost more than £75 ?

I run a construction company that also installs renewables, and like every other company in the industry yes because it'd be pretty stupid not to be involved in the green deal.
We have submitted numerous rhi claims for our customers and the general rule is to just do a gdar because it is less hassle
