What a palaver , been trying to apply for 3 weeks now as the online application system wasn't working. So although the web site states all you need is an EPC and a MCS cert ,now it turns out as my EPC is old (which it would be as I'm a legacy applicant) it doesn't include the space and water heating KWh so I need an EPC in the new format !!. I'm guessing this problem would apply to everyone , has anyone actually been successful applying for this ?0

1) You need to get a new EPC from a GDA.
2) Legacy applicants that claimed RHPP can't apply till July.

I didn't get any RHPP as my install was between schemes (Sept 2010) It's just annoying that they say you can apply when clearly anyone with an EPC from 2009-2012 won't. Although OFGEM did say my original energy assessor should be able to use my old SAP calculations to produce a new EPC but we will see and I will post back as guess a fair amount of people will fall into this category .0 -

I agree, it is quite frustrating to have had to pay for a Green Deal EPC having already met the requirements of the MCS scheme which qualified for the promised/proposed RHI back then...
Summing up... our house has had two EPCs done in 3 odd years and been inspected twice by the EST with the threat of yet more periodic visits to confirm existence of the install!
Do folk that get other incentives like free boilers get this much love and attention...?
PS Our solar PV has had it's generation meter read twice in the last three weeks!?
Must cost a fortune to administer all this...0 -

Yes they do and so much more!!!
Just to try and explan the reason for a GDAR and updated EPC is the EPCs have changed and are now more detailed assessment than before as they are now used for a large variety of different grants and incentive schemes.
Also the GDAR and EPC cannot show a recommendation of loft or cavity wall insulation, if they do you need to sort this out to reduce the heat demand of the property and thus the rhi payments.
This insulation can be done through ECO for free or a very little cost at which point you will be given a new GDAR and Epc which is then used for the rhi calculation/payments
And if anyone is struggling to find an assessor to carry out the GDAR, you need to go to the green deal participants register where you can enter your postcode and search for assessors that will show a list of genuine companies that operate in your area and you shouldn't have to pay more that 150."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -

Now I have the results from the assessment it certainly is more detailed than the one from a few years ago.

My experiences of the RHI.
Our ASHP was installed in Sept 2010 so we got no payments or incentives. I had to get a new GDA & EPC which cost me £130.
I tried to apply as soon as the window opened but there were issues with the OFGEM website so had to wait for a couple of days before it would work. Application acknowledged on 14/4/2014.They then asked for proof of my bank account and proof of identity (copy of a bank statement header and copy of my driving licence to be posted to them) which I did
I got my confirmation last week that I'll be getting £167.80 a quarter based on 7.3p/kwh which equates to about 9195kwh per annum. My MCS estimates my heatpump generation to be about 13741kwh per annum.
The heatpump cost just under £6k including installation so I reckon £4700 is not a bad contribution to the cost although it's considerably less than what was being suggested by the government at the time the unit was installed.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

I contacted the EA who did my original survey and he re submitted the figures and produced a new EPC which cost me £25. So it looks like if you have a new build property but an old EPC you don't need to pay for a GDA just redo the EPC.0 -

Can you just use the EPC don't you need a Green Deal Advice Report as well?"talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
you need a GDA as well as a current EPC to apply, both of which are a waste of time & money (in my opinion), however if they insist then that's what you've got to do.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
