Wow, so many visitors !
Thank you all for dropping in, your good wishes are very much appreciated.
Well, it is done, we have finished work.
I feel a bit strange to be honest - not exactly euphoric, but if a weight has dropped from my shoulders. It's a huge feeling of relief. I think I'm going to appreciate it more in the coming weeks, as it'll take a bit of getting used to.
It was a very busy day, no chance of going early. I could have stayed late if I wanted to, but I declined that one! But I did have a nice lunch out with my colleagues
Mr Goldie has also finished his job. He came home with £200 in M&S vouchers (on top of last weeks JL vouchers), a set of two crystal wine glasses ( we could do with new wine glasses, the ones we normally use are 30 years old!) and a nice bottle of wine.
My gift was a little more restrained - a bunch of flowers. They are beautiful flowers, but I'm only going to have tomorrow to enjoy them, as they'll be dying off by the time I get back from my holiday.
HR department have managed to mess up my last salary. I was expecting to be paid for the 9 hours holiday that I'm owed, but there was nothing on my salary slip about this. So I went to enquire, and yes, they have messed it up, but the person who deals with it is off sick. They proposed paying me for the holiday time at the next salary run (27th Jan), but I said that was too long to wait, and it'd also mean my P45 would be delayed.
So they are going to try and do it 'tomorrow'. To be honest, I will be fairly surprised if it's done tomorrow - I'm fully expecting to have to wait until the new year.
It's been a poor show from the start by HR.
I'm not going to let it rile me up, as these things get sorted in the end - but it's not a good way to deal with their key customers - the staff!
Anyway, I'm going to have a relaxing evening. Bye for nowEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Welcome to the club Goldie! It's exactly 3 years since I retired from a full time professional role. It did take me some time to get used to things - I felt like I was playing truant for about six months! I love my life now though and won't be going back to work unless I have to.
I'm sure you and Mr Goldie will build a great new life together.

Hello GG and MGG - I hope you are both waking up today ready to start the new chapter. I just wanted to wish you both a bountiful retirement I am sure it will be amazing as it's been a long time in the planning. I believe that planning is the key, and it would appear from reading your diary that you are very proficient at this! Have an amazing cruise/holiday, a lovely Christmas and a Perfect 2015 :j.0

Thanks for dropping by, everyone:)
Well, this is the first day of the rest of my life, and believe it or not I managed to get up fairly promptly at 8am.
I'm going to get a load of ironing done, then we'll get the packing done
We would have been home today anyway, as we'd booked this day as a holiday. So still can't quite believe we've done it!:rotfl:Early retired - 18th December 2014
