You'll hear it here first !

I had a phone call from the HR department of my (ex) employer - I've got another £99 to follow for the holiday pay they missed off. They're sending it by BACS today, so it'll show in my account next week. Plus the pay will be included in my P45. So, fingers crossed, this one is sorted
Done quite a bit of the packing, only a few bits and pieces left, plus my dresses.
Just in case I don't get a chance to post again before I go, would just like to wish everyone who reads my diary a very Merry Christmas.

Goldie, so sorry I missed the last day! And there's the HR lot reminding you of part of the reason you decided to give it all a miss
Not sure if you'll see your diary again before you go off on the cruise, but I'm wishing you a wonderful, wonderful time, I know you'll have that, and a wonderful start to 20152023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Congratulations Goldie and have a fabulous holiday!0

Hello everyone!
I got back from my cruise yesterday, and had a lovely time. The ship was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and on the morning of the 23rd, a fantastic gingerbread village had sprung up overnight.
We tend to stock up on fragrances when we go on a cruise, as the prices are genuinely lower than the High Street, so I got a perfume that I was running low on, and Mr Goldie bought three of his posh anti-perspirants .
But the things I'll remember most are the experiences - being in the Tivoli Gardens at dusk, with all the lights coming on, or being in snowy Oslo on Christmas Eve, having the city to ourselves as the Norwegian holiday had already started.
It's reminded us of how much we love cruising, and how much we want to continue with this sort of holiday. So it's a good incentive and a springboard for the New Year, to remind us to live reasonably and fairly modestly for most of the time, to allow us to splash out on our holidays.
Oh, I also bought myself a white watch. I've wanted one for ages, and just the right one was in the one board shop, so I treated myself. I call it a retirement present!
When we got home, we found that our p45's had arrived. Also, Mr Goldie's pay was significantly more than we thought it'd be, once his lieu time and holiday pay was added. Very pleased with this - for the time being we're just keeping the money in our current account, until the our tax allowances are switched to our pension income. There's a chance our January pension income could still be taxed. I'm sending our letters to the tax offices tomorrow, so hopefully this will get sorted.
In the meantime, I'd better get on with the washing. But I'm not going to be in to much of a rush, at this time of the year it's more difficult to get things dry and aired, so I don't want too many clothes hanging around all over the place!Early retired - 18th December 2014
