Hi Goldie
Just catching up.
I am so sorry you have been having a rough time. Glad to scan came back clear. And just wanted to send a big (((hug))).
Going back a fair few days regarding Old Style Living, I have been incorporating elements of OS into my life for years (and I'm only 42!). If that makes me old before my time, then so be it. But I get to eat homemade, yummy food and I have enough money to save for my future and have a nice time now! (Even on my salary!) So there is alot to be said for it.

Weird about the work ears issue though. Do you have air con at work? Lots of airborne viruses being blown around your heads? Does sound like a remarkable coincidence for several of you to be affected over a similar time period!
We don't have air con at work - we freeze in winter and boil in summer:rotfl: As my consultant said, ears are funny things and there's lot's of things that can go wrong with them, so it's *probably* a coincidence. But if it turns out we have all problems for the same reason, then I think they'll need to look into the environment in the office. I'll be keeping up to date with my colleagues about this - also it's nice to swop deafness stories!WhiteSnowdrop wrote: »Glad you didn't have the horrible thing and good luck with posting parcels the parcels, I think its the worst bit!

The doc said a lot of people are relieved when they find out it is the horrible thing, as they can pin point a reason for the problems. Not me, I find it better for it to be a mystery, and not have it!misscousinitt wrote: »Hi Goldie

Feeling a lot better now thanks - I think the vertigo really dragged me down last week, but I feel quite bouncy today!:j
Wish I'd done more Old Style things years ago, it's much more satisfying to produce your own food, and to consider purchases carefully.... I love it!

I ordered a jigsaw last week. I don't often buy them new, but this is a very nice one, and auctions on eBay always end up at a price in excess of what I want to pay for a used jigsaw. So thought I'd buy a new one, and then sell for hopefully a good price. Parcel turned up this morning - but they sent the wrong jigsaw. I've been in touch, and they are going to send the correct jigsaw, and I can keep the one they sent in error. That is a very good result. I've done the other jigsaw before, so I've got a brand new, unopened jigsaw to sell:j
My washing machine leaked a bit this morning. The water came our of the dispenser drawer, so I've given it a de-clog, so I'm hoping that'll do the trick, although this seems to happen more often these days. The machine is 8 years old, so it should have a bit of life left in it yet.
We seem to have an unwelcome visitor. Our kitchen bin is one of those that is attached to the door of the kitchen cabinet under the sink, and pops up when you open the door.
Yesterday, the we noticed that the bin liner had been gnawed by something. We put down a trap (don't like using them, but sometimes needs must). In the evening we heard the trap spring. We tentatively opened the cupboard door, but the mouse must have escaped. We've reset the trap, and there's been no further activity. I've also ordered batteries for the sonic deterrent, to beef up security. We can't see how it got in, so are still looking for holes. I must admit, I'm a bit scared to open the cupboard just in case there's a mouse looking back at me:eek:
I've managed to do the vast majority of the house work, and have completed the claim form for Saturday's appointment at the doc's. I'll pop it in the post shortly, as part of my afternoon walk

We've always got a jigsaw on the go. We've been doing those 'nostalgia' type jigsaws, with the idyllically perfect scenes of sweet shops or baking days etc!
I think we'll move on the the wasgij puzzles for variety and more challenge.
Another fine day has dawned, so I hope to get some tidying done in the garden. But first, I'm going to go to the shops for a while. On Friday it's a World Cup charity theme day at work. My team is 'Brazil' so I need to get a suitable t shirt. There's quite a few about, so I should be able to get a fairly cheap one quite easily. I don't like getting t shirts for events, as it dates the t shirt. Any other thing you can wear for years if you want, but everybody will immediately be able to tell the age of my World Cup 2014 t shirt. I'll probably wear it at home afterwards to get wear out of it.Early retired - 18th December 2014

I managed to get a £10 T Shirt from Sains, with Rio de Janeiro on the front, so it's not an obvious World Cup T shirt. I'll be able to wear it in 10 years time, and no one will know how old it is:rotfl:
Have been working in the garden as planned, and have cleared a load of leaves from underneath the shrubs, I'll do some more tomorrow.

Glad you're feeling better Goldie. Hope things continue to improve.
I'm a jigsaw fan as well - neglected the current one (a gift to celebrate being mortgage free) for nearly two years. You've inspired me to dust it off and get it wrapped up. I've got a mammoth one to get into soon (24,000 pieces) that looks amazing but haven't worked up the energy to kick it off or an idea on what we'll do with it once finished. I have about 12 wrapped which need to be framed at some point as we've so far only done jigsaws of places we've been and I wouldn't dismantle those.
Cheers,

24,000 pieces !
That is a mind-bogglingly large jigsaw. 1000 pieces is about my limit:rotfl:
After investing all the time that would be needed to do a 24000 piece, there's no way that it could be dismantled afterwards. A large frame and wall space would be required, I thinkEarly retired - 18th December 2014
