I can't believe it's been a year already - what a marvellous year you've had.

What a wonderful anniversary to celebrate! It's flown by, do you feel like it's normal every day life now or do you still have work flashbacks?:)
In my less MSE days I bought all the Buffy boxsets on VHS and then when DVD came out I bought them all on DVD and gave the VHS to the charity shop  I must have wasted £100's, but I did love it! Highly recommend it, although it may be a little dated now.Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Happy anniversary :T.What a wonderful anniversary to celebrate! It's flown by, do you feel like it's normal every day life now or do you still have work flashbacks?:)A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Happy anniversary. Its lovely to enjoy your journey with youMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Thanks for the good wishes, much appreciated:)Happy anniversary :T.
I dreamt last night it was Wednesday afternoon, I'd supposedly been working from home all week but had forgotten to look at my emails :rotfl:.What a wonderful anniversary to celebrate! It's flown by, do you feel like it's normal every day life now or do you still have work flashbacks?:)

It took a few weeks to realise that I wasn't on holiday from work, but I think it felt like normal everyday life quite quickly. But I'd only been working 2 days a week at that job, for 5 years, and mentally I had never felt like I truly belonged there. I was planning my exit almost from the time I started!
If I'd retired from my previous job, where I'd worked full time for 28 years, it would have taken longer - I estimate that it took me about 2 years to get over that part of my life - my friend reckons she's never got over it, even though we were all made redundant in 2009!
But as GG says, sometimes I have work related dreams. Normally, I find myself at my old full time job, and I'm expected to do work that I last did 6 years ago, and I'm expected do it like I was there yesterday!
When I was a cashier, I had a recurring nightmare. The branch would be closed, and I couldn't balance my till. Then the street doors would mysteriously swing open, and zombie like bank customers would walk in, and I had to serve them, even though we were closed, and my till didn't balance. A true bank cashier nightmare!
PS thanks for the tip about Buffy.
Also, it reminded me of the amount of VHS tapes we had at one point, all long gone to the charity shop!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Yes, something precious like that would be good to get on DVD
Mr Goldie has old cine film that he wants to get on to DVD. It was one of those 'after-retirement' projects, that we haven't had time for yet!Early retired - 18th December 2014

I'm a bit late but still wanted to say congrats on the first anniversary of your retirement. :T I can't believe how fast it's gone either... but so pleased for you that it's been a good year

Many thanks - it's certainly been a quick year
Today, we were in M&S at 8.30am to pick up our turkey (well it's a turkey crown) and then straight into Sainsbury's to do our other shopping. It was already busy in there.
At the checkout, we found a till where the person in front had almost had all their shopping rung up. Grand total of their shopping was just over £400! I thought I'd stepped into one of those Gregg Wallace TV shows:rotfl:
According to the cashier, the person was entertaining 16 people on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. There was enough food to feed an army, I bet there'll be some leftovers
I went to my hairdressers at lunchtime, and then home, to relax.
Although it hasn't been that relaxing, as we've some unexpected computer faffing around.
Our modem is in a room upstairs on one side of the house, and our lounge is diagonally opposite downstairs, so we don't get a good Wi-Fi signal in the lounge.
We've overcome this problem with a Wi-Fi extender. But we noticed that the extender had a red light on it, and it seems to have fallen out of the network.
So we switched it off and on, and now it has green lights, but it won't allow us to put any devices on the extender as it won't recognise the network password.
We've still got the internet, as the modem works fine. But it'll be a bit slow on my iPad if I want to browse on the sofa.
We'll probably have to get our computer man in. Even he had trouble setting up the extender, so I think we'll have no hope sorting it out!Early retired - 18th December 2014

OMG - I've just had a crisis!
We decided to try the modem in the living room.
So, we plugged in downstairs.
The laptop upstairs seems to be loading the Internet at an acceptable speed, and the iPad downstairs is fine.
So, all is good, until I tried to get on MSE, and I was blocked:eek:
I think it must have been all the turning the modem on and off.
The email address they gave didn't work, so I had to go on 4G, and put a message on the site feedback board.
I don't know if MSE sorted it out, or it sorted itself out after a period of time, but I'm back on wi-fi now, thankfully.
It was a very bad feeling to be blocked.
I'm happy to be back, but I think it's highlighted that I'm probably a bit too MSE dependent.
I keep taking steps back from MSE, then I creep back again:rotfl:
Just glad to be here reallyEarly retired - 18th December 2014
