Well done :) I applied but didn't get picked. Hope they give you some good stuff

I'm eagerly awaiting my first 'assignment'

I like Lorraine - she has a laugh, she can push an interview if she *really* needs to, but she's kind, and practical and she knows when to keep shtum.

Yes, she is good, and I find that she has interesting segments on her show.

There was more cooking this morning. Fish tacos, basically cod coated with cumin, with a pineapple, cucumber and onion salsa. I've saved the recipe from the website, so that'll be something else to try.

One thing I will say about day time TV. I SWEAR I turn the TV off after Lorraine, and don't watch Jeremy Kyle!:rotfl:

Yesterday, we went to the cinema again, this time to see Jurassic World, which was really good.

Thank heavens for Meerkat Movies, as the standard adult price has now gone up to £9.50, which I find ridiculous, especially as it's the off-peak price. If it wasn't 2 for 1, cinema would be quite rare for us.

There's a Costa at the cinema, so we decided to have a coffee before we went in to see the film.

While we were sitting there, all of a sudden, a sea of grey haired people emerged from one of the auditoriums - it reminded me of being on a cruise ship to be honest!:rotfl:

We realised it must be the end of the 'silver screen' showing for the over 55's.

They show fairly recent films, not recent releases, at an early start time of 11am a couple of times a week.

It's only £3 and you get coffee and biscuits too. Sounds pretty good to me, so we'll be giving it a go next time there's something we'd like to see.

The only problem with lots of old people all together is that they never sit in the right seat, which I find particularly annoying as I choose the location of my seats very carefully:rotfl:

We've just booked our tickets for the Kent Show next month. We've lived here nearly 34 years, so it's about time we went. By booking online we saved £7, so it all helps.

Apart from that, we've been doing a bit of walking, a bit of gardening and got the remaining bits and bobs out of the shed to take to the tip tomorrow.

Sun's back out, so I'm going to read in the garden for a while

Brilliant news :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: thats really funny that the grey tide reminded you of the cruise ship! Thats even cheaper than 2 for 1, though, so you *have* to give it a go :D

Sun's dodging in and out a lot at the moment - enjoy yours :)

Him goldiegirl, sounds like retirement is keeping you wonderfully busy. Great decluttering, we have never used our loft for storage and I don't think I will as it just encourages you to hoard things you really ought to declutter. garden sounds productive too, wish I was a bit further south as I don't have much luck with anything other than salad. We are off strawberry picking this weekend though so almost MSE as we will get a huge batch :)

I made a decision when I moved here not to put *anything* in the loft except more insulation ... and I can hear myself say sometimes "I could store that if ... " and it's so tempting sometimes! I know it wouldn't work for me personally though, not anymore.

Amazingly, it's 6 months today that we stopped work. Can't believe that's it's gone so quickly and we haven't been bored once. The days seem to fly past.

Good luck with the strawberry picking at the weekend -our second batch should be ready by Saturday.

We have resolved for nothing new to go into the loft. It's not completely empty, as the Christmas decorations are stored up there, and we have about six neatly stacked storage boxes with the things we have decided to keep from our parents houses, but that's it. Nothing else will go up there 'just in case'

Today we took the last of the shed stuff to the tip, and went to M&S for a free coffee, curtesy of the Premium Club.

I had engineered this visit as M&S had a small sale on, and there were two tops that I had seen previously and really liked, in my size. I took this a sign, and purchased them. We've got a long holiday next February, and I'm going to need casual tops like these, so they are needed.

I've also been looking for sports/walking sandals, and haven't really seen anything that I like, until today.

I looked in Clarks, and they have exactly what I want, for either £45 or £50.

I've got a genuine need for these sandals, as my current ones are starting to fall apart.

In the spirit of mindfulness, I'm thinking about this.

I'm trying my best to buy in sales or on offer, but these sandals are perfect, and I don't want to risk waiting for the sales in case they are sold out. I wouldn't be at all surprised if I buy them next week.

Well, we can't be perfect all the time!

Go for the sandals, GG - when you find something useful thats also beautiful, and replacing a worn out something, you have to have it!

The loft useage sounds v sensible - I'd put my own Christmas decorations up there if I could force myself to open the hatch voluntarily :o rather than having it blown off by the winds, as happened last month  I think there may be rather *too* much ventilation in my loft ...

    Happy six month anniversary!

A very good reason not to put things in the loft!

I'm going to buy those sandals tomorrow, assuming they have them in my size.

Been having a low key few days. Reading, jigsaws, a bit of eBaying (for my friend and a few of those postcards I bought) plus some walks.

Today, I had hoped to get out into the garden and do a few things, but it's very showery. Each time I think it's drying up, it starts again. I think I'll probably leave it until tomorrow.

I'm currently waiting for an Asda delivery. It's one of those 'big' shops. This time I've ticked that I don't want any substitutions - hopefully there won't be too many missing things

  • Hello Goldie, I know the sandals you mean and I had been eyeing them up for summer walking myself. However, they have pretty much the same thing in sports direct for £12 so I bought those. They have slazenger or karrimor so they are not really cheap versions and I have worn mine a couple of times already and they are very comfortable. Worth a look if you have a branch near you. I do love clarks shoes but thought these were just too expensive for what they are.

I hope it arrived all okay, GG - I always have the "no substitutions" box ticked, whatever supermarket I'm using, I'm way of the unit price being higher, even if the actual money paid out is the same.

Know what you mean about the rain - quite heavy sometimes, and even popping out to post some letters was a bit of an issue :)

Enjoy your low key days - friend of a friend has just cut back by a huge amount of hours, and spent weeks in the Greek archipelago, apparently, learning how to sail :j I don't quite fancy learning that, but I *really* fancy chilling out on the Greek Islands one spring :j

The Asda order order arrived at 3.30, and everything that I ordered was there, so it was it was a really good show.

There was only one problem, and that was down to me. I THOUGHT I'd ordered two packs of of skinless, boneless chicken thighs. But what I had ACTUALLY ordered was the chicken thighs with bones and skin:mad: What an idiot! I will use them, and will be much more careful next time.

I like the idea of sailing round Greek Islands, but I think it would involve some hard work.... I'll just stick to the cruise ships!

Hi Squirrel, we have a sports shop in our local shopping centre, but it's not a Sports Direct - I think it's JD sports. I have quite small feet, and sometimes I'm able to buy children's shoes, which is a lot cheaper. I saw a pair of children's walking sandals in M&S, but they were too obviously for kids with all the glitter and stars they had on them!

Just looked on the Sportsdirect website -I think I can see the sandals you are talking about and they are just the job. But I always prefer to try shoes on before I buy, and the nearest Sports Direct isn't that convenient. AARGH!

I will think about this, as it is a big saving!
