Loft decluttering is something I can really relate to at the moment.
I am still in the midst of the process - however, I am punching a clock because of the move.
Must be fantastic - well done you.

I have to say, finishing the de-cluttering has been a load off my mind, in all senses of the word. It just makes me feel 'lighter'.
We had a nice morning yesterday. We went for a walk at a local country park, near the river. The weather was very nice, and we'll certainly be going back, as it is a very large area, so there's lots of different walks we could do. It was like being on holiday, all the other walkers were saying 'good morning' as we went past them! We took a flask of coffee with us too, so it was very MSE:rotfl:
We have another country park within a short drive, plus another about 15 minutes away, so we have plenty of places to go for a cheap morning or afternoon out.
This morning we were at the garage, signing some paperwork for our new car, and have a delivery date of 30th June.
I also obtained a car insurance quote from Toyota, which was £30 cheaper than my current insurer, so will probably go with Toyota, especially as they'll pay the cancellation fee for my current insurance.
I'm excited that our new car is nearly ready, but I have to admit I'll be sad to see my present car go. I bought it in 2003, and it's seen me through an eventful period of my life - bereavement after my mum and dad died, redundancy, a new job, and retirement. If I keep new car for 12 years it'll be 2027 before I buy another. That seems an impossibly futuristic date. Hopefully the next 12 years will be a bit quieter too !
Imperial War Museum tomorrow. Their current exhibition is called 'Fashion on the Ration' about WW2 clothes, which sounds interesting, so I've downloaded 2 for 1 tickets for this.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Awww. Sad and happy at the same time, from the sound of it, but how lovely to be lighter! 2027! Dear me ... Enjoy the IWM show - I remember my mum telling me she was one of those teenage girls who drew stocking seams on their legs, to pretend they had stockings on when they were bare-legged2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I think the IWM is a great place. I'd like to go without the small children so I could fully appreciate it next time xI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200

Hi Goldie - I was just popping in to ask whether you had gotten the new car yet - as it just popped into my head today for some reason - and I see not quite. Not long to wait now though0

Yes, my mum told me that as well. It was interesting to see the clothes they had on display, as I'd seen photos of my mum in similar clothes.I think the IWM is a great place. I'd like to go without the small children so I could fully appreciate it next time x
If you went without your small children, you'd probably be able to go into the Holocaust gallery. Honestly, this gallery literally stops people in their tracks. As you go round, there are screens shows survivors telling their stories, and people just weren't moving, they were transfixed by what they were hearing. It was incredibly powerful - I can't get it out of my mindHi Goldie - I was just popping in to ask whether you had gotten the new car yet - as it just popped into my head today for some reason - and I see not quite. Yes, nearly there. Our challenge now is to not put any more petrol in the old car! :rotfl:Early retired - 18th December 2014

Oh my word. I don't think I'd stop crying if I went to the Holocaust Gallery - I was like that on the Ypres visit a little bit, even without the graphic displays2023: the year I get to buy a car0

It was incredibly moving, and, as you said earlier in this thread, the focus is on individual people, which gives it a big impact. The overall figures involved are too big to even get your head around, but I think people understand more when the human story is told.
Today we had our first strawberries from the garden and they were delicious. Our other crops of courgettes, tomatoes and peppers seem to be coming along nicely too.
On the subject of food, there's a diet segment on 'Lorraine' in the morning, called 'The Bikini Promise.' I'm not worried about the bikini, but the recipes on the website are brilliant from a low sodium point of view. I'm harvesting them for my recipe folder - there's some really good ideas there.
I've signed up to a M&S panel to review new products. It doesn't say there's any reward, but I'm hoping for few vouchers, at the very least.Early retired - 18th December 2014

I like Lorraine - she has a laugh, she can push an interview if she *really* needs to, but she's kind, and practical and she knows when to keep shtum.
Strawberries - yum! My little alpine ones are starting to mature, but they're all half eaten by various little widges already! Looking for replacement herbs right now2023: the year I get to buy a car0
