asda breach of data protection

Since my reply to the original poster I have had my own experience of the Data Protection Act being broken. I have split from my wife and live on my own about 30 miles away. I changed my water account on Thursday to my new address. That afternoon she called Welsh Water to put the account on her name. She spoke to someone who obviously had no idea what theyw ere doing and not only gave her my new address but also allowed her to put my name back on her water account and her name on my water account. Now, if this had been a case of an abused woman fleeing an abusive partner the consequences of the error could have been tragic. I called Welsh Water, asked to be called back by a manager and duly received my callback. I informed them of the persons error and asked that the person be spoken to. They sorted everything out and I am happy with the result - without having to ask for a sweetener. This was the sort of error that could have had tragic consequences and I felt that I had to say something.
I sincerely hope the person was spoken to. I wouldnt want them to lose their jobs but I would want them to remember that their actions in giving out personal data could cause major repurcussions.0 -

Should I expect them to offer me anything to "keep me sweet".
please noone reply with-it was an accident why do you expect to gain from it blah blah blah, like you did when my gran had that fall in morissons (she died by the way) if that is your opinion then keep it to yourself, I want some useful advice on what to say. thanks yp
Hi
I had this happen to me. I would have been very annoyed if it had been my details left so I complained.
I'm also a big believer in learning from mistakes, people should be informed of their errors.
I also believe that asda need to review their policy and procedures (I'm sure they claim to protect your personal details and clearly they aren't)

I found a phone book once.... wonder what pay off I will get from BTA shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

I'm a ASDA Home Shopping Delivery driver, I would just like to stress that a load planner holds no more infomation than what can be found in a telephone book. Also please have a little sympathy for the driver most of us are under allot of pressure to get the job done in the alloted time and we do our best but we are only human and mistakes happen.
The store i work at we don't have time for breaks, lunch or tea and we often work through 2 to 3 shifts without breaks. You wouldn't beleive how much work is involved delivering your shopping for £5.88ph0 -
