I thought this must be an April Fool, but apparently it's not :eek:

I told my tutor group that, because of underachievement of boys, classes would be single sex from the beginning if Y10.

I'd printed forms for each one to 'express a preference' on which of the two single sex house they'd like. And had them spend the whole of registration completing them.

The funny thing was that the boys were quite happy about it: the girls went mad, though.

Once when I was in primary school we swapped classes with the class next door. They sat in our room and we went and sat in theirs. The teachers went nuts, upset about health and safety, if there had been a fire, well over 30 years ago so not when health and safety was as much a big deal as you hear about these days.

It was hilarious though even if the teachers weren't impressed.

One at work where I got a line report to believe the client had complained about his abrupt tone in emails and called him into a meeting to discuss. Myself and my manager just creased up as he came in looking very guilty.

I still like the one in Railway Magazine, many years ago, when they suggested that British Rail was going to replace locomotive numbers with barcodes. It even had a picture of a diesel loco with one on the side. I leave you to imagine the letters from the more gullible trainspotters in the May edition.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

Off topic for the thread, but just desserts springs to mind.

The best one i ever heard was years ago now. First thing in the morning our local radio station reported that there was an exceptionally low tide on the Mersey and you could see the mud of the river. All morning they were speaking to experts from Liverpool Uni etc explaining how the freak weather conditions had allowed this to happen. One of the reporters went out in a helicopter and was describing the sunken wrecks that were visible, some of them sailing vessels from hundreds of years ago, some that had been bombed during WW2, they were interviwing people from the emergency services giving out warnings 'cos some people were trying to walk across the river. Cos this once in a lifetime thing would only be here until the next high tide thousands of people flocked down to the river to see it. The whole morning was taken up on the radio with different stories about the history of the river.
Then on the midday news, they said April Fool.
Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

  • When I was at school, one of the teachers threw a surprise test on her first class that day. Poor girls were stunned, ploughed through it and were a tad unhappy when she walked out at the end of the class announcing it was 1st April! She never taught me, but was very well respected by her classes, except maybe that single class for a single day.
A smile costs little but creates much :)
  • Bumping this for April Fools 2017!

What's the best you've heard? Or worst depending on your point of view!?
