the dog looks like a spaniel lab cross. and I doubt if his ears ever go 'alert'. the dog is staring into the distance and not even registering the baby's presence! as I said, no danger to Prince George. and Prince William has a restraining arm around the dog. !!!!!! - how paranoid can people get?

Its a cocker spaniel, a working strain.

    WOW!
    Over-react much?

I'm certainly not getting paranoid, I was just expressing my opinion.

Is that still allowed on here?
Or are people going to start shouting 'troll' just because someone has expressed an opinion that differs from theirs?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that Lupo looked uncomfortable in that photo. If he was focussed on a toy, his ears would have been forward (spaniels ears go forward rather than up), and his ears are back in the photo.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure that was aimed at me. ;)

Theclues I'd be looking for are the dog panting, tension in the muzzle, showing the whites of the eyes and actively avoiding the baby. I can't see any of those signs in this picture
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Thanks MrsAtobe for that clarification about ears.

I know I said 'ears up' but I meant 'alert' - and that dog's ears are not alert in any way.

Just expressing my opinion in case anyone thinks I'm being paranoid, BTW.

Ok, time for me to get flamed...........

The first thing I though when I saw the pic was that the dog does not look happy - its something in its eyes, but it looks to me like its uncomfortable with having the babys face thrust into it........

    Olias

Thats probably because baby(George not the dog) only gets pulled out for the family photo shoots. I don't think the nannies usually look after the dogs.

I liked it as each parent has an arm clamped round a potential explosion and manage to convey happy & relaxed.

I'd love to see the photos that didn't get published!

Do you know what that abbreviation means? If not, I suggest Googling it.

You have come onto a thread where someone just wanted to talk about a baby and doggy photo and swear - nice!

There are ways of sharing without swearing you know.

    My take on it:

the dog looks at something in the distance
baby and dog are way too close - with neither of the parents looking at either of them as they both look into a camera and none of them could react fast enough if this dog wanted to bite this baby at this moment

    so - IMHO, silly photo

as now you will have everyone posing their kids with their dogs and bad things will happen
