Ok, time for me to get flamed...........
The first thing I though when I saw the pic was that the dog does not look happy - its something in its eyes, but it looks to me like its uncomfortable with having the babys face thrust into it........

I agree with this, the dog looks tense and uncomfortable to me. This is why accidents happen. People can't read body language. I don't think any child should be that close to a dog. And before I get shot down, I own two dogs and do think children need to be exposed to dogs and taught how to behave around them, but not this close.0 -
Just in case anyone hasn't seen it:
Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
Hmm I saw this picture yesterday and my first thought was about Lupo's eyes. I have a baby and we did have 4 dogs but I rehomed one of the dogs at my Mum's as I just didn't like the way he looked at our daughter. It might sound extreme but I've known all my dogs since puppies and I was getting a bad vibe from him. He lives happily just with my Mum and he dogs and is happy and relaxed. Not saying Lupo should be rehomed, William and Kate will know what is best, but the look in the dogs eyes was the first thing I noticed in the picture, he doesn't look relaxed or happy.0

the dog to me looks alert and has the look that it may have just seen a cat or something else to chase, its not even looking at the baby0

Regardless of where the dog is looking, or its expression, if you're going to allow a dog and a baby to have their faces that close together you need to have your eyes very firmly on them and be ready to react if necessary, not looking at a camera.0

the dog looks like a spaniel lab cross. and I doubt if his ears ever go 'alert'. the dog is staring into the distance and not even registering the baby's presence! as I said, no danger to Prince George. and Prince William has a restraining arm around the dog. !!!!!! - how paranoid can people get?0

I'm pretty sure that each of them would have a tight enough hold on both child and dog to stop them climbing/falling/jumping out of the window. The same secure hold would stop anything happening between baby and dog.
I still stand by the dog looking comfortable and observant rather than highly alert or worried in any way.0 -
The dog looks like it is staring at something in the distance. I own a cocker spaniel which Lupo looks to be and when she is alert she doesn't raise her ears. They are too long to anyway.
It's a lovely picture of them all
