Actually, I'm not convinced that that poster did find it offensive.

It just read to me that they thought the expression was a bit over the top and that swearing in the circumstances wasn't really necessary.
I may be wrong about that though.

this is getting silly now! if !!!!!! was swearing on forum it would have been replaced by !!!. I offended someone so I apologised - can we drop it now please?

It is indeed getting silly.

meritaten is correct in saying that if !!!!!! was considered swearing, this forum would not allow it.

I started this thread to comment how refreshing it is to see such a high profile couple as William and Kate so relaxed about having their dog so close to their baby. The dog is not pushed out, as is often the case, which can make the dog jealous of the baby.

We seem to be swamped with negatives in the media about dogs and kids and the picture demonstrates common sense for a change.

Why does there always have to be one poster wanting to criticise something that doesn't even matter, and go completely off topic?:(

There are also negative opinions about that particular photo on this thread.
They are valid opinions.
Just because they don't happen to agree with your opinion doesn't make them any less valid.

I didn't criticise it.
I was just pointing out that - in my opinion - the poster making the observation about the abbreviation !!!!!! had a valid point.
In fact, if you hadn't told Tiddlywinks that she was being silly (post #34), I probably wouldn't even have pointed out that !!!!!! is actually swearing.

its an expression of frustration much used on another board- if people find it offensive up here in the rarified air of 'Pets', then of course I will try not to use it, but I do sometimes forget.
