Lovely photo of Prince George and Lupo

I've just seen today's official photo of baby prince George and the family dog Lupo.

The baby is being held close to Lupo's face and is gazing at the dog with great interest.

No doubt there will be the usual uproar in the media about how dangerous that can be.

I think it's really refreshing to see the royal couple making sure the dog isn't pushed out by the baby's presence in the family and teaching George to love and respect dogs.

Well done to William and Kate.

At last, some positive publicity for dogs! Lovely photo with both cute baby and cute dog.

Influential people like William and Kate can help set a trend for more rational opinions about dogs - a welcome change from all the hysteria dog owners have been enduring recently.

I like that the dog has a black coat... too often black coated dogs (and cats for that matter) are over-looked for rehoming in favour of more colourful animals.

Ok, time for me to get flamed...........

The first thing I though when I saw the pic was that the dog does not look happy - its something in its eyes, but it looks to me like its uncomfortable with having the babys face thrust into it........

To me it looks like the dog is looking right past the baby at something off to the side. The dog doesn't look at all uncomfortable to me but it does look like it's interested in whatever it see in the distance.

Lovely as the picture is - beautiful baby, happy parents and a lovely black dog (I love black dogs - have three black labs!) - the picture worries me.

I would never, ever, let a baby's nose and a dog's nose be so close ...not worrying about health issues - but it's just too close if baby George pokes his finger in dog's eye and dog snaps .....personally I always have a hand in between noses!

My first impression was that the dog looked uncomfortable; certainly not happy.

the baby is held by his mum, the dog is held by its master. I don't think that baby is in any danger. William would feel if the dog was tense or unhappy. he could then move the dog away instantly.
I think its a lovely picture!

Nice picture but does that baby have an especially large head?

His head does look a bit big but I think it's just that he's slightly on the chubby side.

The dog doesn't look uncomfortable to me. Probably someone is standing to the side waving his favourite toy to get his full attention as dogs always photograph better when they're fully alert.

I love black dogs too. All my dogs have been black labs or black lab crosses, with the exception of Lucy who's a Golden Retriever cross...but she was my daughter's dog originally. She was heading back to the Dogs Trust where she came from when I intervened and said I'd take her.

And I have to say she's every bit as adorable as all my black dogs were:)
