    OFGS!
Why are the doom and gloom merchants always on the prowl?

This is rather an extreme response to a very good point.

Once you have entered into official complaint about a neighbour you will have to declare these at the point of sale.

I had thought when I read through this thread that you appreciated this! I now see you probably had not.

Just because it is not something you want to hear doesn't stop it from being a good point for you and others to be aware of.

Sorry if it causes pain though!
  • Big Aunty - everything you say makes perfect sense - what I do feel however is that what you are saying lately is only explaining hoarding - not necessarily being a constructive or solution answer to my plight.

yes in all the stress of trying to rectify this mess I didnt think about those measures. I wasnt in a position of sale or solicitors documents so how would I know?
It seems I may be battled from all sides!

  • There was, at one point, a problem caused by a neighbour shortly before I sold my last house. If it had continued it would have been very major indeed. Let's just say it was resolved satisfactorily and therefore didn't appear on the selling forms as a dispute.

I did check out with a solicitor and it was fine by them not to mention it, even though a legal letter had been sent (because I was the one who wrote that legal letter, rather than it being a solicitor iyswim).

Anyway, the problem is over and had stopped affecting me and wouldn't affect any future owner of my house.

This is the thing, there are "disputes" and there are "Disputes" and, if OP manages to get the stuff cleared from outside the house, then I guess it counts as resolved/don't mention.

If the potential new owners have seen all this rubbish and are still putting in an offer, then I would say "They can see clearly whats what and are still offering, so it obviously doesn't bother them that much".

I would think these people have seen the age of the hoarder couple and calculated that, if they can get the house at a reduced price, its worth waiting out the few years max. that this hoarding could be a problem for. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the buyer of my last house spotted another neighbour "nosying around" when they turned up viewing and thought "Nosy wotname...but hey look at the age of them...that won't apply for long..so I wont concern myself".

Hope it all works out for you OP and congratulations on getting possible buyer on the one hand and sympathies at having to sell the house for less than its worth because of not having that "few years to wait it out" for the problem to resolve of itself (ie when this old couple are no longer in residence).

The house is full of clothing up to the ceiling, handbags, shoes, ornaments food!
You've clearly had access to every room in the house to know this, so you will know how the couple move around in the house, and how you moved around in the house. Or are you exaggerating?
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

    How does those remarks help?
these people have a slim path to cooker and toilet - thats it!
Is that acceptable way for an elderly couple to live?

No need to shout. If they have a slim path to cooker and toilet, are they sleeping standing up? If you're concerned speak to SS as a matter of extreme urgency stressing that the couple are at serious risk to themselves.
