They probably see that there is a market for a smaller, more easily transportable, product, and so decided to cater for that first.
I expect they will start to offer larger containers of concentrate in the future.0 -
Now my son who works in the Grey market has just made a point .. the smaller the packaging .. the more that can be transported by pallets on lorries..
But to my mind the smaller the packaging means an increase on waste products that then end up in landfill0 -

I wish I had said that earlier.....
The smaller packaging leads to a small package in landfill. With less size to transport.
Or did you recycle the 'old' full size cans?0 -
But more containers produced ?
Does that make sense?
Large container now could hold x 2 the amount .. less containers , less manufacturing
New container holds x1 the amount ... more containers, more manufacturing .. more to landfill
Your argument doesn't make sense0 -
Your argument doesn't make sense
I've got to admit to me everyone else is making sense.
If large containers carried twice the amount then they'd be twice as expensive. That wouldn't look very good, it would also be twice as big as the new smaller ones so will be using more material so that cancels out any manufacturing argument. Having is the obvious thing. As people have said twice as can be transported to retailers, they also are easier to carry as they take up less space and are also convenient for travelling abroad as they're less than 100ml.0 -

Lol,sure it doesn't.to you.
Why are more containers produced? its the same product in a smaller can.so less packaging for the same purchase.0 -

Just like every other consumer product.
Oh, wait. That wouldn't look very good, it would also be twice as big as the new smaller ones so will be using more material so that cancels out any manufacturing argument.
Maths not your strong point?
The larger the volume the less surface area per unit volume enclosed. Thus the less packaging required and the less transportation weight and size per net unit measure shipped.
So it most emphatically does NOT cancel out his argument.
As jackieblack pointed out right at the start, they are obviously aiming for a market segment defined by convenience, at the moment.
It's worth pointing out, though, that with a new product of this nature, a manufacturer is not necessarily going to tool up to produce it in all available options until they have seen how the market responds.0 -
A large can will only use about an extra 80% of material to produce than a small can but carry 100% more product.0

I've tried and tried with these (Dove) and won't buy any more.
You don't get a burst of soapy freshness (I assume due to the compression) so a) you're not sure if you've used enough so spray again and b) get a bit paranoid wondering if you stink yet!
About 1/3 of the way into the can the spray noticeably decreases in pressure.
About 2/3 of the way down it just gets plain difficult to get any out.
They totally do not last longer than a normal size.
I agree. I tried the Sure compressed spray and it was gone in no time. Wouldn't buy one again unless I was going abroad on holiday. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

Also agree ... in the process of using my first one ... doesnt last nearly as long as before and definitely struggling with the last 3rd of the can.
An extreme disappointment. I'll get the old-style cans, personally ... or swap to another product if they're taken from the market.I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum
Cos how can you be gloomy, when the sun shines out your bum?0
