Might be worth changing your password too if you had 51 infections on there. Could have been keyloggers or allsorts0

Reinstall it using the original media and license key. System Refresh on W8 is not the same as System Restore.
I don't have the original media - it was down loaded from microsoft under the works home user license and I wasn't given discs. It was only £8.95 so not the end of the world if I have to repurchase.0 -
If you've got a note of the licence key number then you should be able to download and install it again without further charge.Terrysdelight wrote: »I don't have the original media - it was down loaded from microsoft under the works home user license and I wasn't given discs. Thanks. I do have the license number.
Can someone tell me which password I need to change to help me stop getting viruses. Would it be the Router password or perhaps my email?
Many thanks.0 -

Changing a password won't stop you getting a virus. The latest "scare" involved online accounts being hacked due to a weakness in so called secure hosting. Probably more scare than anything else, but if you want to be safer, change your password to any accounts you have used for online access, such as online shopping or webmail.
Assume that something somewhere knows your password for an online account if you want to, so change your password(s) to something else. If you use the same password for everything, then change it, preferably to a different one for each account. Pain to remember them all though!
No need to worry about your router password. Normally they need a direct cabled connection to get into, and it would have to be a determined hacker to achieve any benefit from doing so.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
