Yes, could take the laptop to my dads and try on his connection.

There isn't anything more simple than a system restore. It's worth a try at this stage.Terrysdelight wrote: »Thanks, I appreciate the advice.
This is just way past me - I'm just not going to use the internet banking for the time being. I don't have the time to keep trying fixes at the moment :-(

I've used CCleaner for years without it doing anything to affect certificates.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Hi
I did system 'Refresh' thought this was the same thing - not sure? However, my office 2013 which I installed a few weeks back has disappeared. I purchased through the works office home user license. Will I be able to reinstall it?
And it didn't solve my problem!0 -
If you haven't made some backups, I would highly advise doing so ASAP. It would probably be a good idea to start another thread if you need help doing that as it's a separate subject.Terrysdelight wrote: »I won't lose my pictures will I?"Such an enormous country, you realize when you cross it" - Jack Kerouac0 -
before you do anything else, backup your photo's if they are important, and ideally backup the lot.
backup means 2 or more copies in a different place, not moving them somewhere else.

As far as your problem goes, not a lot of light so far - W8 system refresh?
check the date/time is correct, use a different browser, eg IE, scan for malware with malwarebyes, post a hijackthis log.!!

Thanks - I will have to nip to the shops tomorrow to buy a couple of memory sticks for the back ups.
I'll leave this for now and I will start new thread over the weekend.
Many thanks

Hi
I backed everything up. Did the malaware and there were 51 infections - all High risk. They are all gone now. PC is running much better.
Going back a little - when I did the 'Refresh' it removed loads of stuff including my Microsoft office 2013. Have I got to buy the software again and reload it or can it be recovered? A folder has appeared on my desk top with details of everything which has been removed. I'm hoping that it hasn't permanently been deleted. Any ideas?0 -
Reinstall it using the original media and license key. System Refresh on W8 is not the same as System Restore. No free lunch, and no free laptop
