Proposing without a Ring - alternatives?
Comments
-
My husband proposed first and then when I siad yes he produced a temporary ring (I think it was £3 or £4 from Argos) for me to wear until we got the real thing. I was quite glad as the three days I wore the temporary ring was long enough for me to realise that I needed the next size up meaning the real thing never needed resizing whereas it would have otherwise. I would have been happy with anything to be honest as I was just so thrilled we were getting married but I did like being able to choose the ring myself.0

Whatever you do don't propose with a ring that is not the real one - I know several people who have a valuable ring in a draw because it was bought later & for sentimental reasons they wear the "cheap" (up to £100) that was used to propose with.
I also know that men if asked what their girlfriends like will choose something completely opposite what they actually like. This is often the fault of the girl (as mentioned before, they do lie a lot - "Of course I love that [STRIKE]tacky[/STRIKE] ..... you gave me").
The solution really is to propose without a ring, get some champagne though & make sure you have made space in your diary (& money in the bank) to go shopping quite soon after. Girls really do like to show a ring off.
Good luck & all the best.

actually I really like zfrl's suggestion... I can imagine being proposed to with champagne etc and then immediately whisked off to choose the ring would be very exciting.. obviously this means you have to propose during a day when the shops are open! But personally I think that has far more potential than being proposed to over dinner <yawn>!0
