Proposing without a Ring - alternatives?

  • yeah my concern with a ring is that it may be difficult to then get the real thing. Another alternative I suppose is just to buy a single diamond which could then get a jeweller to make into a ring - but then again there is problem with style the diamond could fit into I think

Buy a copy that YOU like, there is a massive range of styles available out there, to suit almost every budget too.;)

Get her one from the toy shop that's obviously fake so there's no mix up, she'll love the novelty of it. Some mad plastic thing with a big pink stone.

That's why you put it in her Champagne glass/ in her caviar - no box required then:rotfl:

ye but going by Argos example no 3 it clearly looks cheap box or no box- better to go for an obvious fake like a sweet or kiddies ring from Woolies!!

  • so is initial consensus that the pendant option is not a good one then?

Anyone got anything else to add?

  • i just don't think the toy ring would work in this situation.
  • you could go for then pendant, but set yourself a limit price wise. It depends on what sort of girl she is, would she be disappointed without the ring?. in all honesty every girl wants a sparkly engagement ring, so save your pennies for the real thing, and dont spend too much on a necklace if the ring is to follow. how much would you want to spend on her ring? I know some people say an average price for an engagement ring is 1 months wages, but personally i think there's no need to go that far. Also, if you opt for white gold, which a lot of people (including me) do these days make sure the carat of the gold matches the future wedding ring, otherwise the different carat will eat away at each other so to speak and wear down quicker, meaning you will need the rings dipped more frequently.
