It's not just about age though, if short hair didn't suit when young and looking your best with great skin [spots excepted] then why would it suddenly suit you when your getting older?
I always think short hair needs a good face, especially the profile.
Imagine Twiggy wearing her famous 1960's crop now she is so much older.
Long hair doesn't need to be hanging limply around the face.

I thought a "bob" style ended somewhere between your chin and your shoulder. Isn't any style that actually touches your shoulders just "long"?

I kind of think that but suppose if there are no layers or just long layers then it can be called a bob, some of the long bobs look like they've just grown.

    Ta much

I knew I shouldnt have put up that photo of me from 1995:rotfl:

Nah, joke, was taken the last time I got my hair done which was about 6 weeks ago

Getting it done again tomorrow, got talked into it by the hairdresser, they need case studies for their course, generally if my hair costs more and £35-45 is the going rate around her for a cut colour and blow dry depending on how many colours you get put in, I tend to leave it longer in between colours when Im skint

Sarah Jessica Parker is someone else who is in her 40s with long hair, think shes about 47 or 48.

Julianne Moore I think still has long hair, I think her hair looks good as well

Pauline, you are incredibly pretty, you look younger than you are and your hair is fab. :D

Cottage Economy - I think it's because some people have this notion that older women aren't supposed to be sexually attractive, or even visible. Tosh.

Lily Rose who was the lady with grey hair in your 3rd picture?

Sorry Jellyhead. Only just noticed this:

The lady in question was a lady that just came up when I searched for 'middle-aged women with long hair.' And it's this lady:

Her name is Barbara Roberts, and she is a tree-hugging hippy from Canada. Don't know much more than that. :)

I would say if you hair touches your shoulders, it's 'shoulder-length.' Not sure when hair is classed as 'long.'

I miss my husbands long hair. :( I cried when he got it all cut off.
My husbands hair was so long he could sit on it when I met him.

I'm 43 (not for much longer lol) and my hair's below my shoulders. Until last month, it was probably at the bottom of my bra strap. It suits me better longer, but it's such a pain when washing it!

It's now a sort of strawberry blonde colour. I don't look my age so can get away with it. If you have an older face, I think shorter hair (not so much shorter as 'styled') looks better.
