I've commuted to Belfast from London with Easyjet for several years (traveling at least once a month with them). They are easily the most reliable and comfortable budget airline experience.

That said, I flew with BA to Athens in January and forgot how nice it was to fly with a non budget airline. Free drinks and food and it is one of the few airlines that have recently introduced being able to use electronics with the flight safe mode enabled on take off and landing (I'm easily pleased).

I would say it depends on the overall total cost and length of the flight. I would happily pay 20% more for BA for the difference in quality. As somebody who constantly trawls the internet for the cheapest flights possible that is a bold statement!

Funny how experiences differ. Hubby commutes monthly london/Belfast and his choice of airlines is aer lingus, ba and easy jet last

Ooh, I thought I was going to die on the last Aer Lingus flight I went on ! was in the gales of December and the plane bounced about 5 times landing at Dublin. Couldn't open the luggage bay for 4 hours as wind was so strong, would rip the door off and this was an airbus A320 ! we got pushed away from the airbridge by the wind!

The service was good though, although the staff and inside of the plane were a bit drab.

Back on topic a moment, I would take BA over Easyjet, but there's not that much in it for short haul.

I would take Easyjet over RyanAir in a heartbeat. I would also take crawling over RyanAir, mind.

It is up to the Captain, at the end of the day, if they will allow them to be used on board. Easyjet or no one else can force a captain to do something he is not comfortable with. He is in charge of the plane, he writes the rules.

Love to see you trying to argue with one of them, saying it's on your website ! Cue the Police at the other end ! lol

Stop getting in a huff, trying to catch people out. The only thing worse than that is the spell checker brigade, that frequent this site.

Of course they can, but there is no logical reason why a significant number of Easyjet captains would overrule this policy. The much more reasonable explanation is ignorance.

And yes, they should tell all their cabin crew about the new policy. What on Earth makes you think I would argue with them? That would be beyond moronic - if I cared enough (I don't) I would complain to Easyjet after the fact.

I'm not trying to catch anyone out, I merely do not like people changing their argument then denying they ever made those points despite it being right here in black and white. If you don't like me "getting in a huff" then tough.

There seems to be a consensus from a couple of people commenting on here that even though, as you say, the rules have changed on the 18th, there still seems to be flights that are not allowing electronic devices to be used, even though the website says they are allowed. The captain and the staff have the last say, not the bods in head office.

Don't you think it could be a bit of a marketing ploy Easy jet are using, which gets people to book with them, as they can use the devices and then not be able to when they actually get on board. They can always say ''Its up to the Captain''.

Letting people use devices on board whilst in flight or take off/landing is treading a fine line. There has been no total consensus that it does not affect radio/system signals. Allowing Them to be used, is open to people making calls whilst in flight. How do you know they have flight safe enabled? I can see posts on here and other places, through the summer, people moaning that they couldn't use their devices, it has only been allowed over the past couple of months anyway, so difficult to gauge.

You can Huff away as much as you like mate, doesn't bother me in the slightest ! I will just argue if I see an unrealistic or ridiculous statement made.

To be fair to easyJet, I find it more likely that it's a change that's recently been made and which just hasn't been implemented fully yet. Doesn't change the fact that they haven't allowed it on my recent flights of course no matter how much callum objects to this :)

I think it's officially rolled out now, just got of an easyJet flight and they made a song and dance about how you could now use eletronic devices during the entire flight. It was also mentioned in the easyJet magazine. Good news.
