Thanks redknap, but I was hoping for a promo code to give a discount off the £15 as there is the option to enter a code. Any codes out there?

Yes they are independant, but as soon as you reach 1500 points for exercise, you cant gt any more points in that category, whether it be gym visits or fitnes assessments.

True, but you can still get points for some of the improvements or maintenance (e.g. Blood Pressure).

That's because blood pressure comes into the Screening category (and BMI into the Nutrition category) so even if you have maxed out the Exercise category you can gain points for these things as long as you haven't maxed out the other categories too.

To firbird, whose gym benefit disappeared from his/her online statement after it ceased to "count":

I've noticed something intiguing on my statement today. (You'll remember I'm on Platinum and unable to gain any more points in the Exercise category, but still needing to accrue gym visits because my quarter ends a month before the new rules come in.) Since my gym visits started counting for 0 points, an additional line has appeared on my statement, and all my recent visits have appeared on the new line.

Can it really be true that if you take advantage of the points system in Pru's Vitality Activities programme you can reduce your premium to NOTHING from the second year onwards???? They told me on the phone that you need to get 2,000 points to get to Platinum status which equals a premium reduction of 100%. Well, having looked at the list of activities which you can get points on, it's not that difficult...especially if you are joining Pru to get the free gym membership and will therefore be going regularly anyway.

Have I misunderstood something or are the Pru banking on people signing up but not being motivated to go to the gym, etc?

Any views on this would be most welcome. Thank you.
Hi - Yes there will certainly be an assumption that a large number of people will not go as regualrly as they think, well not after the intial motivation has warn off (usually after the first week)

jtcowie: your premium will go extremely low if you reach platinum, but will never go down to absolutely nothing because the reduction is calculated using the following formula (copied from what I posted on the other PruHealth discussion thread):
The premium won't ever be £0.00, though, because the 100% discount is the cost of the new year's basic premium minus the previous year's basic premium. When I say basic premium, that's the amount that you're automatically only paying 75% of in your first year.

The new year's basic premium will be more expensive than the current year's, to take account of inflation and the fact that you're a year older. So you subtract the old one from the new one and you'll still be left with a few quid.

    Example:

Current year's premium = £40 a month (of which you're paying £30, because of the automatic 25% discount in Year 1)
    New Year's premium = £40 a month + (for the sake of argument) 10% = £44
    So if you end year 1 on platinum, you'll be paying £44 - £40 = £4 a month.

Plus whatever your gym fee works out at, which could be £0.00 if you're Platinum.

    Hope this makes sense!

I would also asume that pru health partners pay prudential money to be a partner.

Boots for example will raise a lot of money through screenings that hardly anyone would want to pay for normally unless they thought something was wrong however people now do it for vitality points.
  • Does anyone know when the new vitality partners will be on the website? I'm quite interested in the Eurostar and Cineworld offers!

Also, I had three gym visits missing from my statement from July, queried them yesterday and the points were awarded today! Thats good customer service!
