Also were do you go about gettting the 2000points to get to platnium is there a list of things to do? i read about the two fitmess test that seem to add a good bit of points towards it :)

    Thanks for reading

They send you out a pack that highlights how you get your points.

If you didn't get that, then on the PruHealth Website it has a list of activities.

Basically, you have to go just under 30 times per quarter to get free membership - that in itself is 1200 points (120 x 10).

Add on to that 600 for the two fitness tests (300 x 2), 150 for being a non-smoker and 50 for simply activating your account online and you're at 2000 already.

On top of that, there are lots of ways of getting points online, as well as improving your stats in your fitness tests.

It seems daunting at first but it works out very straightforward providing you go to the gym often enough.

    hello all,

just a quick question i have recently signed up and was told that
cause i signed up on the 13th i should waituntil after the 16th to activate my gym membership as i will get the rest of the month free if i do and that means i will have 3 and a half months to get the 2wice a week
I joined on 16th (didn't know about the free rest of month, it was just luck).
The rest of the month was free, but that doesn't mean you can go less than twice a month. Count all the days from 16th, and divide by 3.5. It was 31 times for me (not 26;) ).

it said this when i activated my virgin active membership, what does it mean?

Please note: If you join between the 10th - 16th your first months gym membership will be payable in the next calendar month. This will be in addition to that months membership

should i wait until after the 16th??

I never paid for the balance of my gym membership for 16-31st, but my gym was Cannons...

I paid total of £100 for my first quarter (gym) from 16th Oct - 31st Jan. That includes the initial £25 set-up fee;)
  • I really can't get to grips with this deal.

Can anyone help me work out whether it is worth it for me?

I am a student, so I have been offered a £59 per month membership at VA (one of the pricey London gyms). There is a joining fee of £10 at the moment, reduced from £100.

I am interested to see whether the insurance can offer me any savings. I am not interested in the health insurance aspect of the deal.

The quote I have got for the insurance is £28.57 a month. I am not clear whether this is for the insurance *and* the gym or just one or the other. Also, it says my "monthly premium before discount" is £40.81. Is this what I pay for the first three months?

I am aware there is a £25 application fee.

Also, what happens after the first year?

    Sorry to be so dim!

which gym are you planning on going to

The cost will be £25 (application fee) + £28.57 plus the cost of the gym,.

    |The cost of the gym will depend on where you go and how many times you visit. Which gym are you planning on going to and how often. To make it really good value you really need to be looking at least twice a week visit.

  • I have another question!

Does anyone know what the different tiers of membership mean for the Virgin Active gyms? I've looked on the Virgin website and they don't describe their memberships in tiers. I can't find the info on the PruHealth site either.
  • Thanks mumofjusttwo! I plan on going about 3 times a week. I can't seem to work out the cost of the gym (the price generator on the pruhealth website doesn't work for me). I would join the Lancaster Road Virgin Active in W11.
