  • Just thought i'd add my experiences.

I took the plunge completely the online application on Thursday 27th Sept (to take advantage of the 50% off that Boots offered), with the start date on the policy as tuesday 2nd Oct.

Unfortunately my welcome pack didn't arrive for the policy start date (still hasn't, but that's more the royal mails fault than pru's!), but I phoned pru on Monday 1st Oct, and they gave me my id number on the phone, so I could go and activate my account with Cannons gym.
I got there too late to register at Cannons on tuesday (the membership bods seem to disappear at 8pm), so I did it on Wednesday instead - took about 10 minutes - but after filling in the form, I realised i could have done this before the policy start date, and then activated it on the start date by ringing pru on the policy start date. As it was, I phoned pru that evening, and my account was active for the following day.
Have to say - Cannons were very good - I spoke to two membership advisors (i went there a few weeks ago just to have a look around), and they both knew about the pruhealth scheme.
We also booked our assessment for the next day (although we could use the gym from the registered day), and we were told it was compulsory - also if you want to earn vitality points for improved bloodpressure, BMI, and fitness level, then you need to complete this so they know where you started from.

The assessment took about 15 mins - they started with height and weight to work out BMI. Then blood pressure. Then you attach a heart rate monitor, and do 3 minutes on a step using a 'bleep' to indicate when you need to step up, They monitor your heart rate through the stepping, and then also afterwards to check your recovery to assess your level of fitness. And that was it! They do all of this in a private room, so no worries about looking like a melon :) Plus you get 300 points for doing it.
On the way out (which was at about 10pm), we got our cannons club cards, so we just swipe ourselves in now.

I also rang pru to get my password so I could log on online (still no starter pack), and they sorted that out for me too.
Myself and my partner are on our policy - and we have already got 1100 points, so not far off silver status, and that's not even including our gym visits

So a big thumbs up from here. We're still learning the ropes, but we should easily get to platinum.

QQuaver - yes I remember people saying on here that the Quidco link now goes straight to the Boots deal, so on that basis you should be OK, but I didn't do it that way myself so perhaps someone else here can clarify???

Yup, my quidco application went via Boots but am still waiting to see if it will track (it didn't show so I did an enquiry, and now it's marked as being sent to merchant...)

Since boots premium is 1/2 price it's almost as good a deal as the regular pruhealth premium+cashback, so if the quidco doesn't work then you haven't lost anything, and if it does it's a bonus!
  • Just wanted to chip in. The gym membership thing is great but beware if you ever have to make a claim! I did and they have been an absolute nightmare from the start, absolutely shocking, and two months on they're still messing me around. It's a good job it's a freephone number or I'd have paid back my gym membership twice over by now with all the calls I've had to make!

That's not very good moscow. Although my primary reason for joining pru was to get free membership I would hope if I ever did need to make a claim that it wouldn't be an arduos task.

    Hi,

Need some advise, been looking to join a gym after Ramadan which finished yesterday!

Saw this offer a while back and was wondering the following:

    Is the offer still available?

How does it work exactly? (Do I sign up with pru-health via quidco and get canons free membership just like that? Canons is the nearest to me)

Im 18, Uni student in Central London, would that have any affect?

Got a mate who is 17, dont think he can get the health insurance but what discounts can he get?

We will be using gym during peak and off peak hours. Need some advise, I called Canons to book a tour and check out the facilities, going to the Convent Garden centre which looks like to have the best facilities around.

    Any advice?

    Cheers,

yes this offer is still available, u need to click on the pruhealth link on Martins article, you can then find the nearest gym to u.

What happens is, u go to the pruhealth website via the quidico link, fill all your details in, sign up, about a week later you recieve a membership pack, this includes you membership card, which includes you pru health number.

Im not to sure with the procedure with cannons, but with LA Fitness, you then go to the la fitness link pru provides, enter your pru number, other details, pay $25 activation charge, u then print this out and go to your gym and get your membership card, and you can start using the gym.

PLEASE note: when u go to the gym for the first time, u DO NOT need to sign any bank details /contracts as u done it all online (thats if cannons is done online to).

Pru deal with all the gym contacts, you pay Pru, and then pru pay the gym.

With regards to your friend, as far as im aware u have to be 18 to join pru or ANY gym.

Called Pru, but was told to call back on or after policy start date.

Went to Pru Healths website directly nd got a quote of £20.10 per month with no excess on their CORE PLAN which is the basic one.

I opted for treatment outside of London hosputals as I dont intend to be using the insurance really, just the gym offer.

Any advice? Can I go elsewhere for cashback? Would like something back from the £241.20 for the first year.

Canons charge around £50 per month so I am in saving anyways!!!!

Working fine for me. Is your cookies OK?
Someone else said the link doesn't work, so it may have been broken at one point.
