How many properties did you view before buying?

Think we viewed 7 houses but ended up buying the first one we looked at anyway!
We didnt have loads of choice.0 -
We viewed 7 in the last month, 3 of those for a second time. Decided on our first choice and had offer accepted only for the vendor to ask for more money from us 3 days later.
But as luck would have it 'we slept on it' prior to withdrawing our offer and another of the houses we viewed dropped their asking price (only reason we discounted it was that it was over our budget) that night so we bid and were successful on that one.0 -
We did some research and went to look at the outside of a house that had only just reached the estate agents books with no photos. The owner saw us lurking and invited us in and we bought at the asking price. It had only been put up for sale a few hours previously and didn't even have the for sale notice up.
We've extended twice and certainly made the best choice. In fact, although we'd like to move, we're having a hard time finding anything comparable in the next price range.
This was over 40 years ago and I still remember the estate agent having a go at us for daring to enter a house without him showing us around!!Saving money right, left and centre0 -
We looked at seven (eight including the one we've bought). Five in the area of London where we currently live and wanted to stay, and two just on the opposite side of the river when we felt like we'd never be able to buy where we wanted to.
We offered on three (all in the area we wanted to stay). We missed out on two due to other offers above asking price, and the third one because the owners are daft and have completely over-priced it (it's still on the market today, 12 months after it was first listed.... this is in an area where places go under offer in a matter of days if not hours!0 -
I looked at nine, I think, in a period of 6 or 7 weeks. Purchase is going through now...0

Probably 15-20 over a six month period. Started looking for flats in a separate area, then decided we could get a far larger house in another area just slightly further away for a bit more money.0

From March to August last year I think we viewed around 20-25ish, offered on about 8-10 (all but one went to sealed bids - east London market) and we offered over asking price. Finally got one in august!Started saving January 2011

About 12 - lost the one we really wanted, then had solicitor advice against the next one - ended up with bit of a rushed buy - if I am honest I am a very impulsive person and sometimes wish someone would give me a good talking to beforehand ... but that's me passing the buck again!0

In the past I've tended to view in between 20-35 properties before finding the one I wanted. However, with my most recent sale, I had a very particular location & type of property in mind where I wanted buy, so I viewed only 2 properties.
One that was just where I wanted to be & the other was something I was willing to consider as not far from my first choice & internally very nicely done.
Although this 2nd property I looked at was ready to move into & cheaper than the 1st choice, I chose my first choice as I knew that it would be perfect for me when fully refurbished & now the place is finished, I'm more than happy with my new home. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
