How many properties did you view before buying?

Last time we moved (in 2011) we viewed about six houses spread over five counties during the course of two/three weeks. We were relocating back to the South of England having spent three years on the East Coast and the house we eventually bought was a three hour drive away from the house we were selling.......
As we were looking for a very specific type of property there weren't many options open to usMortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0 -
33. First five were about a year ago. The rest in three weeks. Offered on two. Lost out on our dream house (best and final and got gazumped by the estate agent himself!) and finally buying one but it's not my dream house. It is the best on the market for our budget and needs thoughIf you dont know where you are going... Any road will take you there :rotfl:0

Three. As we were looking out of our area, we did lots of online research, but only viewed 3 in one day and put in our offer. Restricted area, very precise requirements, so not many actually matched them.0

About 7 I think. 4 of those were back to back viewings with one agent then a few other odds and ends later. Bought one of the first 4. Knew it was the one we would buy as at our price range the rest were all a bit glossy for our style.0

We looked at 6 until we were sure we wanted to offer on the one we are currently in.
Did a lot of research online beforehand weeding out the houses that we thought we might like in the area and got it down to the half a dozen or so that we wanted to see (some had already sold by the time we phoned the EA)0 -
None.
I was renting my current house when it was the offered for sale, so I bought it, that was 8 years ago and I'm still living there.0 -
I let the wife and her mother go and view whatever they liked within our budget. Then let me know once they had narrowed it down to 2.
I went and viewed the house we are in the process of buying and said yes. Didn't bother with the other as the external of the house wasn't to my taste.
Offered and had it accepted within 5 minutes.0 -
Maybe 6, but like others it helped that we had specific criteria and there was not much choice in our price range but wanted to buy before it got too expensive (in London). This helped us rule places out online, inc using floor plans to compare actual sizes not just the photos. I'd also look at areas using street view and I used the crime maps from police dot UK and environmental maps from the environment agency. So much easier and lazier than when I first bought 10 years ago!0

We first started looking almost three years ago, but kept having setbacks. We really looked in earnest over the past year, and after viewing about 20 houses we finally made an offer in November, on the house we now own.0

I booked to view 5 houses over a weekend (we were moving 60miles away). I booked the first house because I loved it online, completely impractical, £25K over budget & a bungalow. It was the one we bought and we got it at £25K under the asking price (eventually!). Now if only we could afford to extend it there would be enough bedrooms for us all...!
Good luck with your search0
