You seem to be clinging to this notion that Absolute practicality is everyone's top priority. It isn't.

And the height of the rear boot sill is an observation, not a difficulty.

I can just imagine you talking to a Ferrari owner - "no, no, no. You've clearly bought the wrong car here haven't you? How can you possibly expect to get £150 of shopping from lidl in the boot of this? Clearly a Ford fusion diesel is the sensible choice"

    :rotfl:

I dont shop at lidl. I dont favor a ford, why do you suggest i do? I never said practical is the be all and end all. But me and others including autocar, top gear, your wife and the Op say the car is impractical. Why fight it?

Because its the sort of small minded cant-see-the-bigger-picture statement you are likely to come out with, given your posts here.

Again, practicality seems to be your only criteria for a "good" car.

I world cheerfully drive an impractical Porsche, but to you I guess its a bad car? I can just see it "no no no, someone has left an engine in the boot, there's no room for groceries"

    :rotfl:

Why are you clutching at the impractical straw? Is it because its the only thing left to argue about? "Oh oh. Its not as practical as a range rover" really? Who gives a stuff!!

I guess maybe in your life everything has to be absolutely practical - perhaps due to financial constraints or your own personal limitations, but guess what? - there are people out there who do things for fun! They buy things that arent the cheapest, arent the most practical, arent the most boring.

So heres the ultimate answer to the ultimate question

"Why did the O/P buy an impractical X6?"

    BECAUSE THEY CAN

Why do you keep making stuff up? Where did i say that about a RR? I did say there are better cars in the marque. You even agreed and said you have a x5 yourself. You really want to argue but only agree:rotfl:

No thanks i'll be in my home built kit car, beating your a$$ off every set of lights and grinning from ear to ear, built not bought, you can shove your vorsprung durch technik ;)

I've never known anyone out of their teen years who was still immature enough to get their kicks "beating" people away from traffic lights.

I've certainly never come across anyone who'd boast about it on the internet as a way of one-upping someone...

Not relevant to my question in any way but we test drive plenty of cars and the x6 was the one we liked the best.

It's strange, isn't it, how such a reasonable act, (trying cars and buying the one you like), manages to get some people so riled.

It was an "example" of the sort of banal statement you come out with - substitute in whatever other car you want - the point i was making remains the same.

    I dont HAVE an x5 i HAD an x5

Seriously - read back at some of the nonsense you've written here - you're doing yourself no favours at all.

Who really cares what or why someone buys a car (other than you) - if they want it and it works for them, great!

Why be all petty and snide about someone elses choices in life?

What have you added to the thread here for the O/P?

But if i go home then i can get into a car that does. So you assuming im jealous of, or against a certain brand is laughable.

It doesn't come across that way. You have a fair few posts where you seem desperate to explain why you are not jealous of others.

You do seem, in your posts, to be a bit touchy about status.

But they can't buy a 43k car, they had to finance it.

Hmmm. I bought a new C63 last year. I wanted to pay cash, but was given around £10k off in "dealer deposit contribution" if I financed £3k of it, so I did.

You are making some stupid assumptions, and treating them as fact.

So its an example? Something you have assumed to be true to fit your arguement. You seem to want to project clarksons reveiw onto me. We may share ideas but we are not the same person, I assure you.
And you HAD a x5. which makes no difference to the fact you DIDNT HAVE a x6. So you rather a x5 to an x6 personally? Fair enough. Im in agreement. Again.
The OP has had answer and seems satisfied with it. Nothing is adding to this.
