Hmmm. I bought a new C63 last year. I wanted to pay cash, but was given around £10k off in "dealer deposit contribution" if I financed £3k of it, so I did.
You are making some stupid assumptions, and treating them as fact.
Thats quite common. Fianced isnt the same as cant afford, this board as a whole is very down on debt with a valid reason. I for one am not one of these debt free wannabes.0 -

This conversation doesn't reflect well on those taking part and it doesn't reflect well on MSE either.
I'd think twice about asking people here for advice having read this thread. Someone is wrong on the Internet, live with it.0 -

I'd think twice about asking people here for advice having read this thread. Someone is wrong on the Internet, live with it.
The point is, the O/P ISNT wrong by buying the car THEY want and that suits THEIR needs, however we've a couple of green eyed trolls who cant handle the fact that someone would spend that sort of money on a car.
WHY should they be let away with quite frankly being ignorant?0 -
Right. Bored now.
Leaving this thread.

No, because i subsequently bought another 535d for better economy (and performance), then went to a Passat Bluemotion in 2010 because i was doing big miles and in a different job, so wasnt in the market for a premium 4x4 and havent been since.
So you have owned two of the comparable vehicle types within the marque itself? Personally, I think you have chosen wisely. We seem to be in agreement alot.0 -

I always say that people should buy a car because they WANT it.
But who on earth genuinely WANTs an X6? It's ugly (in many opinions), it has no purpose, it's useless off road, it's compromise on the road, it's lacks room and boot space, yet it's not a performance vehicle.
It's not a vehicle you WANT, it's a vehicle you think you want, more than likely because of social influences.
Me?
Barge = huge boot, radio, aircon, excellent on the motorway run, no worries about parking it or it getting damaged at the shops.
Kitcar = Seats two, has no boot, you wouldn't hear a radio, 500bhp per tonne, does 8mpg - 25mpg depending on how heavy my right foot is, pops and spits flames on the over run and drives like it's glued to the road.
I have two cars, both fill their own purpose very well and in my opinion the only purpose the X6 fills is a "look at me and get out my way peasants" purpose (and pretty good at blocking roads outside schools).
Most people buy a car that does a bit of everything moderately well, but not a car that does everything badly.however we've a couple of green eyed trolls who cant handle the fact that someone would spend that sort of money on a car.
This "green eyed" one line ad-hominem isn't working, you can't ignore the truth by trying to discredit the people speaking it. I'm wearing odd socks, does that make what I say any less credible?
But this has gone crazy, the real point of ALL this is the OP shouldn't have a leg to stand on, you don't agree a price on something and then go complain when you find it cheaper elsewhere.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
