New Help to Buy Scheme seems to prevent first time buyers benefiting from Stamp Duty Holiday !     My son is looking to buy his first flat using Help to Buy and wants to benefit from the Stamp Duty holiday and complete before 31 March 2021.  However it seems the new HTB scheme only allows for completion after 31 March therefore after the holiday ends.   This seems totally unfair to first time buyers and adds £1000's to purchase costs.  Surely this is an oversight and not by design ??
It's extremely unlikely anyone starting now would complete before the end of March anyway.

Must apologise I've not used blog forums before.  Many thanks for the direction.  I have set up a new thread.
  • Does anyone know whether Brexit will have an impact on the housing market or not?
  • We are remortgaging our current property to a LTB and purchasing a new family home. In light of the Stamp duty holiday will we be paying just the surcharge of 3% or 6%? New purchase is 440k.
     Thank you
